yeah, plenty of downtime with oildowns etc but why allow a licensing pass in the middle of eliminations when time's an issue

frustrating viewing today rain, oil down, rain, oil down and then a big crash super pro et hope he is ok.
I hope Henning is OK, too, what a weekend, first the good quali spot and then mayhem.
I had looked at his beautiful Belvedere (built by a PHer) throughout May on my Drag Racing Calendar
and will miss him in the Drachten pits (maybe he is there as pedestrian).
Does anyone know what happened to SuPro Top Quali Marc Henney´s "Ethanol Guzzler",
didn´t see him in first round results ?

Plus the 2 seat dragster was really getting on people's nerves, I know peopleay a lot of money to go in it and it doesn't take much time but it got a lot of people peed off around me!

I enjoyed the weekend though, with less of the top guys in pro mod you got to concentrate on how well the supposed little people were doing. Big congrats to andy and graham, I can't believe how well those cars are coming on since I last saw them! Super street bike was ace and there were plenty of pb's too although it's a shame chris hartnells came at the expense of his motor.

Class of the weekend has to go to top meth dragster though, really enjoyed them this weekend.

It was a bit of a feast or famine day. Things either going very fast or going very wrong. But hey ho thats just the way it goes sometimes. Epic job by the track crew - and racers - to get the race done with what must have been just seconds to spare before curfew.

With hindsight was allowing the licencing pass by Paul Inger Udtian a mistake - maybe. But hindsights 20:20 and seeing as it was a car being run out of an experienced Top Fuel team with experienced tuners it probably didnt seem much of a risk.

After all their problems they deserved a shot at getting their licence, noone could hav predicted the oil down and then apparent breakdown of the track cleaner. And yeh epic job by the track crew

What a long and frustrating weekend..

Delay after delay and hanging around for a first round that never happened. One of those things when your a sportsman class.

Sorry to see some of the incidents today, Henning crashed right by our pit and the front clip actually ended up bouncing off the roof of a teams lorry. I should imagine he had his bell rung pretty good as it hit the wall pretty much head on.

What racing there was this weekend was excellent though although I agree on the licensing situation but people pay to see Top Fuel so that's what they get but why wasn't Paul Ingars 4.2 acceptable as a licensing run on Saturday?

FFS. You lot whine because they want more fuel cars, then you whine when effort is made to get someone licensed so he can compete !

It totally ruined the event didn't it, I mean why run it. Come to think of it why bother with Pro ET ? Who on earth wants to see Street Eliminator ? What's the point of Junior Dragster ? Or Super Pro ET ?

When I take new people to the Pod they are invariably knocked out by the big fuel cars but they normally get pissed off with the endless delays. To some extent it's the nature of the beast especially in England with it's dodgy weather but I'd say it's the single bigest reason that it's not more popular. In the old days it used to frustrate me when they would insist of running street cars or do an air display through with rain obviously coming and the nitro cars lined up waiting to run, these days it's when after a long rain delay somebody immeadiatley lays down oil or knocks down the timing lights or something.Given the weather over the whole weekend Santa Pod did very well to complete the meeting but if there is any further way to reduce downtime at all it should be looked into.

Do you seriously think they don't look at every possible way of reducing downtime ?

Lol fairy nuff ski!

Yeh I disagree with them btw, it doesn't take long to run the 2 seater and helps potential investors come into the sport.

they struggled like hell to finish that meeting and somehow managed it,
no one can control the weather you all read the forcast, if you wasnt prepared to put up with downtime due to the weather you shouldnt have come,
if you cant put up with oil downs and the asociated down time dont turn up at an FIA event where everyone is trying their hardest and some incidents are inevitable....

Ive seen many a presentation or interview eat into what little good weather is available, you end up looking at the startline, looking at the sky, looking at the startline, looking at the sky, and again...and again....but hey, thats showbusiness

I think that's the thing, I knew it was going to be a tough weekend before I left on Friday morning but Id rather sit for 4 days in a tent waiting for the rain to stop and see 1 great run than stay at home and miss out!

And between the showers there were some cracking runs, 5.2 in top meth, side by side 201 in super street, speed records in pro stock, frosty with a 6.5, mr Ellis with a 6.2, and loads of PBS in the sportsman catagories. Was it worth the wait? Hell yeh!!

Plus the downtime gave me chance to buy and read crazy horses from cover to cover. It puts a whole new perspective on drag racing and how much those pioneers had to struggle to get it off the ground. The issues at the weekend are a spec of dust in comparison!

The highlight of my weekend was seeing Thomas Lindstrom storming down the "dangerous" right hand lane, in a suspension car and setting the European Speed Record.

Thank you John, and well done to everyone involved in the Main Event from racers to staff.
Up against it isn't the word when you have to deal with mother nature. You cannot fault the track staff who worked their nuts off to get the meeting done.
Remember that the track crews main priority is driver/rider safety, and they refuse to let anyone go down the track unless they're happy with everything. If Ian waves us on to do a burnout i'm happy to race down the track...
On a different note well done to team Ellis for pulling one out of the bag against us. I noticed your back bumper is slightly crooked as i followed you down the track..LOL
