Why won't we? If all cycles are completed and we get a fair amount of sessions I don't see the problem?

If not and we lose a session to the Pro session...well we are used to it.

No matter what there's always complaints that pro cars stole 'our' slot, we got bumped, we lost a qualifier, we had to wait all day. So I'm sure someone will complain they could have had an extra qualifier even though there will still be 7-9.

A pro test session is a great idea on two fronts
1) entices people to come for an extra day to spectate
2) better qualifying so people aren't using the first shot as a test run/first pass of the year gremlins making a better show all round

It's an FIA/UEM event, they will take priority.

Sportsman racers have their dedicated events.

It's the way it's been for years and I think just about everybody accepts that don't they ? Aside from the odd stirrer of course....

I really like Santa Pod and the Championship races there. Can only speak for myself and I'll probably get fired from other UEM events smile but AFAIC, it's the best drag strip in Europe for experiencing the "culture" and long time history of our sport.

In those regards, I'd say that in some ways I find The Main Event and The Finals better than races I've attendend in the NHRA Full Throttle Series. I know people in the US very well connected to drag racing who'll agree to that assessment.

As for from where to watch the race, my favorite place is on the right bank not too far off from the starting line so as to be close to the action and in fair proximity to "The Licensed Bar". When I'm done with the commentary for the day for the UEM qualifying I go straight from the tower up to the bank, get a cold beer and enjoy the show.

About "The Licensed Bar": Over the years I've bought a beer or two in a myriad of places across the world and "The Licensed Bar" on the right bank rates up top of the list in my book as far as ambience goes. Location, friendly service and low temperature of the beer served gets full marks.

Also, the collective knowledge of the sport within The Right Bank Crew is second to none, I learn something new every time I have the opportunity to go up there. In that, don't be shy, just drop a hint that you're new to the sport to whomever is next to you and you'll end up with a whole load of very friendly people who'll talk your ears off about what you're watching smile

Yeah pretty much, we accept our own fate when we enter a FIA event.

It's not a new thing and has been done before.

I would of thought all the nameless would of been over the moon as they live and breath Nitro here...

Santa Pod has atmosphere and history, I suppose u can compare it to Silverstone, Monza or Spa in F1. New facilities are great such as Abu Dhabi but, you do need a mix of new and old in a championship.

An open Pro test session for FIA and UEM racers will be held at the end of Day 1 of the FIA Main Event, Friday 1st June. The open test is scheduled to last for two hours.
I bet the Sportsman racers will love this... Not!
Don't forget the track is in need of the kind of treatment only the Pro cars and bikes can give it. The rubber they will add will benefit everyone. This is probably why the extra session has been called. So when you look at your slips on Saturday morning and compare them to your Friday slips you'll have the Pro's to thank for the improvments.
