The quality was excellent and definitely worthy of the $10 charge. Anyone moaning about the fee clearly didn't cough up and see how good the coverage was.

Exactly well worth $10 i never thought it would that good with instant replays the only thing missing

Made Saturday but couldn't get back for Monday so did PPV. Absolutely top notch and well worth 10 bucks. Reliable feed, great camera work and editing, well produced and creatively put together. Good interviews etc. Really looking forward to following every race up until the Euros now and I recommend it to anyone who wasn't sure.

Well done to powers that be, a great step forward in coverage.

What does it matter how many people subscribed? What matters is will they do another one.Pay per view is commonplace in.other sports, why not ours? Just because the nimbys don't like it? These ate invariably the folk who won't buy a ticket to go see the race live anyway, their loss I say. It's none of anyone's business who subscribed, apart from those that need to know... and we don't.

at $10 per event id guess it needs over 5000 to cough up to get anywhere near break even, maybe even more, I guess it will sink or swim on its profit/loss margins

How did you come to that figure?

Do you have knowledge of how much it is to hire a mobile TV crew for the weekend with there supporting equipment?

Shirley, the TV Crew are already there for the TV shows? So, the additional costs would probably be hiring some kit to do the instant stuff and a couple of producers to do the mixing/editing, plus maybe some high speed connection techie stuff. $5k?

Or, y'know, read Keith Bartlett's statement that explained exactly why TF was running over 1000'. I disagree with his reasoning, but it's a done deal and the rationale is public knowledge.

5K easy, and GBP not USD$, extra staff, live studio, the crew already there would be recording not live edit... its not cheap, setup, extra BB capacity (maybe an uplink)

It was a foreign TV production company and was up linked via satellite.

Your costs are way off if the right deal is done.

Does it really matter how much it cost the production company to broadcast the event ? surely the main thing is they put on more coverage ? I reckon $10.00 US was waaaay too cheap for the coverage on Monday alone let alone both days. I can't imagine anyone in their right mind bleating about the cost of this service to be honest and I know for a fact there were a fair few who did whinge about the cost. Pay per view is the way to go in my view, as long as the track's running one gets to see everything rain or shine so tip o' the hat from me for the service. Anyone who chucked their rattles out the pram over it then more fool you.. if you can't be arsed to buy a bloody ticket and go see it live then don't bleat about the cost to see it live at home !!

did i say it was to expensive?

i was wondering if the service made a profit, if it didnt then the rest of the event subsidided those watching whereas the ED webcam service probably cost very little....
