I adore Colins Chevy....
Really sorry to hear about all the damage sustained by all the Ph crew - I think 3 big broken motors ?
Would make me openly weep and question my motives I have to say.
Good luck in sorting it all out guys - at least you have plenty of time now.
Thats the thing, we never once questioned what we do, why we do it. No getting upset over it, if you don't expect to deal with breakages you wouldn't be out there racing and theres no point in a car you don't race! We got straight back to the pits Thursday afternoon and tore it apart, block and crank off already to see if they can be saved. Its a massive financial blow for a small self funded team like us but we'll be back at Easter Really sorry to hear about all the damage sustained by all the Ph crew - I think 3 big broken motors ?

yup, agreed....theres no point in worrying about damage...its gonna happen to everyone at some point, if you can afford to fix it, do it, if you cant then save up!....i just need to save a bit more money for a new race car and il be back out there (dont want to spend all my money on a race car after buying a house...priorities n all that!)It was a superb weekend, well done to everybody. I didn't get to go around the pits (other than a short walk around on Friday afternoon) and talk to lots of people as the weather was so good I was glued to the banking watching the racing
Sorry to hear about the breakages, but as has been said you have to expect it. Even at the level that I that race in my under stressed (virtually stock compared to some) daily drive at York (American Super Stock) I know and have to accept that at some point something is going to break, leaving my car off the road and off the track until I can fix it. I just hope it’s a cheap easy to get hold of part when something does break.
I'll post some of my photos when I have chance to go through the 600+ that I took over the weekend though some of those were of the helicopter (thanks to Stig for the oil downs that allowed me to stray from the track !!) that was taking people for rides and the fireworks on the Saturday night.

Hurrah, an accidental capture of the loosely guided missile! (my smurf blue skud in the background)All things considered a successful meeting and it must have been financially excellent for the Pod. Maybe not concrete track successful I suspect. I do have massive sympathy for those who sustained engine damage, however inevitable it is that these things happen. Onward to the National Finals and some potential highlights .....successful licensing for Pro mod and top fuel perhaps?

Positives:
Great to see Risto get the title and Anita getting the event, they've both been such great competitors over the years.
Seeing the Maltese crowd contingencys enthusiasm, and their rejoicing over their superb TMD results.
One of the best crowd atmospheres in years.
Commentary bang on form from all on the mics.
Fuel Coupes leaving a 'Watch This Space' message.
Many great races.
Many stunning runs.
Superb times and speeds.
Peter Svennson 5.72 to cap them all.
Epic burnouts.
Urs Erbacher popping by and helping out with commentary even though not racing (don't see many ex-FIA European TFD champions 'dropping' themselves to the level of spectator now do you?).
Neutrals:
New pitside fencing view vastly improved (ie you can see more than six foot of track now) but still a ballache to watch racing through. The sponsor boards have come down from it too. Maybe just as well, which business wants to shell out wonga to say 'this impairment of your view is brought to you by...'?
1000ft TFD, still impressive but the thrill/anticipation of witnessing side by side 4s @ 300+ sadly missed. Side by side 3s at 300+ will surely one day redeem it if only to prove that when you build a bigger mouse trap someone builds a bigger mouse. What then? 1/8th mile TFD?
Diminished fields, no ones fault though unless you get political.
Negatives:
None.
True there's been better days and there'll be more again - so with that in mind, having such a great event regardless of the tough times shows just how bloody spoilt we are!
