I haven't been on here for ages. I don't have an opinion on TC really , but as can be seen , it is available on any car not just ECU / Turbo cars
the difference is if you wanted TC you would have to buy a stand alone item from one of the vendors ie Davis technologies and wire it in to your ignition system so with its added sensors and wiring there is always a chance it will be found with an ecu its there built in from the start nothing added so nothing to find so no way to prove if its in use

Graham - no longer true. See my earlier post, but MSD supply a small box that plugs into the standard CAN-bus that comes with the Power Grid. Small enough to fit into a pocket....

as we speak the grid is not legal in pm
but youd still have to go buy something with the intent of cheating
when you buy a m800 motec which is a accepted ecu its there already

Without trying to derail this thread, it appears that NHRA are considering changing the Pro Mod turbo rules again - see http://www.competitionplus.com/drag-racing/news/22...

Wayne, what did you break at the National Finals? There looked like an amazing amount of torque involved.
Hi , thanks for the interest. I have to say that the very last run at the euro finals against Bruno , taught us a LOT from the data and the discussion we had from my feedback from the run.

Rolling round to the burnout for the first run at the national finals , I hadn't felt so sure and confident that we were about to make a big improvement in performance. I was sure of it.
Unfortunately , as I rolled my foot in to the gas pedal as normal , we had a component failure which caused a lot of damage to the prop and lenco.
Iam pleased to say that all the safety equipment did its job....the repairs will be done along with some updates and of course winter maintenance too.
I have massive withdrawal symptoms already , I really can't wait for Easter.

Iam sure everyone will believe me that we don't have traction control LOL , and will not use it unless it is made legal , and then I would be silly not too . For me PM is a drivers class , and I love it , and know we have work to do and lots of unfinished business too.

Sorry, Graham. That's what you get when you believe what a manufacturer puts on their website - from the MSD ProMag site - MSD Power Grid legal in NHRA!

Power Grid - MSD Ignition’s all new Power Grid Ignition System has been accepted for use in NHRASportsman categories! This includes:

• Alcohol Dragster,
• Alcohol Funny Car,
• Pro Mod,
• Competition Eliminator,
• Top Sportsman
• Top Dragster,
• Super Stock
• Stock
• Super Comp
• Super Gas and
• Super Street.

legal in NHRA and legal in FIA is two different things
for fia it is legal for next year but as we speak its not legal.... even though cirtain teams used them wink
But if you go and buy the additional plug in box, your intent is to use traction control
you physicaly have to add something to your box.... its no different than buying a box from Davis Technologys is it....

But at least the Davis box needs to be wired in. The MSD device is a simple plug and play. So, if someone is determined to cheat, they don't even have to try too hard to hide it ...

Being simplistic, but would not having a wheel speed sensor be a way if being 100% sure it's not being used?

I guess that's very important parameter that you would not want to lose though?

Unfortunately the wheel speed (or more commonly, driveshaft)sensor is too much of an important tuning tool to be able to give up really.

But when your logger and ECU are connected via CAN (Motec ADL and M800 for example), how do you divorce that connection, or establish that there is no closed loop control?

What do you do for logging with BS3 Graham?
