Having never attended a F1 event I feel like now I've missed the boat on the noise.

What's drag racing like? Have been looking at the Santa Pod website and tickets seems fairly cheap.

I see it is European finals in Sept. Is there much else supporting entertainment? Never been to Santa Pod either.

Thanks

Well, the noise, a 'Top Fuel' 8 liter V8 spinning at 10,000rpm and making 10,000 BHP makes a LOT of noise on its way to +300MPH in under 4 seconds
This vid (from a couple of weeks ago)goes some way to show it, you have to be there to really experience it

Then there are the other classes

supporting entertainment? like what ?

I can only give my personal experience. Many years ago, I went to the British Grand Prix, back in the V10 era. I thought the cars were unimaginably loud. Then I discovered drag racing, which seemed not only louder, but significantly louder. But I wasn't sure if it was genuinely louder, and it was only when I went back and saw F1 cars in person (this time in the V8 era) that I realised how quiet they seemed in comparison.

Summary: if it's noise you want, forget about Formula 1 and come to the European Finals in September!

A top fuel (or AAFC) race is a sensory experience but for a REAL shakeup try standing in the pits by one on a warmup/leak test, something the F1 fans cant really do i think

(BTW) i hear F1 teams dont touch engines, they come ready to fit and go back for repair as and when....with drag racing you can watch the whole frenzied event....

The only thing F1 has more of than drag racing is exposure.
Been enjoying drag racing for thirty-odd years, still wouldn't miss the 'being there', whereas if I ever had to go to another F1 event I'd want to take a book with me. (Preferably one about drag racing).

There is nothing like drag racing for access to cars and teams. It is not just about Top Fuel but Top Methanol is very fast and Pro Modified provides real variety of shapes and engine combinations.

The Euro Finals would be a brilliant event to start with.

Ear protection would be a very good idea.

Under-16s get in for free -- three per paying adult. Check the website www.santapod.com, and you can buy online and print out your tickets at home.

Motorsport is noisy. Drag racing is loud.

Yes that was a concern, kids are 12/13 so not too young. They will have foam plugs and proper ear defenders as well.

You'll be blown away by the entire experience.
Finger's crossed the weather is dry for you...the ONLY downside to drag racing is it HAS to be dry.

There is, of course, much more to Drag Racing than Top Fuel. There is a great event at Santa Pod in two weeks
