The End of Drag racing as we know it

Politics is not a major factor with the MSA series, more logistical.
There are 9 British pro-mods entered in the Euro Finals and the number is growing. Additionally Steve Hall has a car, Steve Rawlings may finally get his nitrous Vette running and Graham will hopefully run his new turbo car. That would give us 12 UK based cars and with a couple of European visitors why wouldn't it be a compelling reason to attend?
Consider the Main Event costs me £87 and Summer Nats is £33 in ticket prices, but the rest of the weekend; travel lodge, fuel, food etc costs the same. There are 9 British pro-mods entered in the Euro Finals and the number is growing. I see only half the pro mods I do at the main event and I don't see the other 5 pro classes (excluding bikes here).
Why, as a customer, would I want to pay out to attend the Summer Nationals?, I'm better off paying the extra £50 and seeing more than twice as much at the Main Event.
If money and time was not an issue I would I would attend the other drag racing events Santa Pod has to offer.

However you get to see other great classes that don't get in for the Fia rounds at other events such as these, so for me that adds to the value for money and makes the effort a bit more worth it.
Personally I enjoy the Nationals, not as much as the Fia rounds for obvious reasons but still aim to get to both rounds.
Would be nice to see a revival in the NFAA to compliment these events as in the past, and some more UK pro class 'fun' runs - after all the common complaint seems to be they don't get enough track time - but not my call.
Point is, I was once guilty of a sulk at the Nationals after being spoilt on a four day Fia pro class extravaganza a couple of weeks earlier, but for what they are the Nationals are good enough in their own right.
Regarding the concept of "ditching the FIA" and running under NHRA sanction, could this really work and would it really be any better????
As noted by others, compliance with the NHRA rule book would slaughter (at least) our sportsman racers and more to the point, the last copy of the NHRA rulebook that I saw had the footnote - "NHRA - a member of ACCUS-FIA" so we wouldn't be achieving a change of ultimate sanctioning body anyway?

Just skimmed the FIA document in Dan's link at http://www.fia.com/sites/default/files/basicpage/f...
The way I read it the FIA Drag Racing Championship Promotor would be selected by the end of 2013 for between 3 and 5 years.
Assuming the minimum deal term then the current arrangements will finish at the end of 2016 - so where are these rumours coming from?

no promoter was chosen at the end of 2013 simple as that...rumors are coming in thick and fast from many sources tha latest being that speedgroup will dump the FIA...over to you...;)
No wonder Bernie paid off the German's. The bribery charges on their own must be a lot to deal with but having this on top!! It must have all been too much. The european championship has suffered for a number of reasons so far this season. Just because drag racing is drag racing doesn't mean the fans are the same in every country. Growth of uk pro drag racing needs attention.
