Morning All

Just wondered how the new lady Race Director did at the weekend. I have heard she is a no nonsense kind of person. Talking to people in the pits she as been around a long time and is the first International Race Director we have ever had at Santa Pod?

Lets hope she can keep it together and the schedule as well?

I believe Carole Ismael was the director. She has probably forgotten more about the Santa Pod organisation and backroom procedures than most of us will ever know. She's been at it around 20 years and has long been a king pin of the support services.

Why does it matter that it's a lady?

Would you still post this if it was a man?

Exactly what I was going to say!!!
Also I'm not sure why the thread is marked with a clown icon... Maybe some people still percieve ladies in racing as a something funny.. If so it's a very sad state of affairs!! confused

Also don't let a certain Mr Prentice hear you say that there haven't been any International Race Directors at Santa Pod prior to Carole earning (well and truly earned I might add clap) the position.

I meant to say FIRST LADY as international and at Santa Pod. I am just asking as it as always been a mans job and she might have a different approach to the way things are done. I am willing to give anyone a chance, but it would have been nice for the owner/promoter to introduce her to the avid race fans. We never know who anyone is until they have gone. So I am not moaning that she is a woman, as I aid it seems a lot of people respect this person. I was not also calling her a clown that is my trademark.

What I am really saying is will she make a difference or not?

Is she really called Queenie or is she just a yes person for the track?

I personally have never seen her and if she is the first lady why have the track not publicised it better. We all love a trier so I am asking will she or wont she do a good job?

comments please if you dare

Are you sure , Chevy rat???? Carole is a no nonsense fair but firm person who is more than capable , normally I would say that your comments are bks or anyone else that would post what you have, but just this once I will give you the benefit of the doubt, maybe you should try and do a bit of homework on this subject before making any more posts on her abilities..

Interesting. For many years there have been women helping to steer the British world of drag racing behind the scenes. It's a very well deserved title indeed.

Why are you all so touchy. I am doing my homework by asking a question and for people to give constructive comments or criticism?

I want our sport to be good and the past season it was rubbish that is why the other race director was got rid of or not. So read my posts again and lets hope you can answer correctly if you actually know of this woman.

I stand on the bank not knowing who anyone is and if she does a good job, I want to be the first person to congratulate her and tell others to shut up.

Now you're just trolling. Come along, sit on the bank and enjoy the spectacle. Don't worry about who the race director is, because for the most part, it doesn't affect anyone but the racers.

What a fascinating comment. So out of interest, what aspect of last season was "rubbish" and how do you think that it was influenced by any Santa Pod staff?! Drag racing isn't the WWE, the race results and weather aren't scripted, nor who shows up to race. As Tet stated, the race director's role is more relevant to the participants than the spectators.

To turn the question round, who are you chevyrat?

In what way are you qualified to understand what the role of international race director is and the effect their gender or personality might have on the conduct of a race meeting?

No wonder some here interpret your request for "feedback" as sexist stestirring. I look forward to more of your well informed posts.

I think the race directors role is just as important to the spectators as the the racers , a slick, fast paced well run event is vital to keep and attract new spectators and sponsors. If there doing a good job in what can be difficult circumstances then who cares if its a man or woman.

I would love to hear more about the previous race director being "got rid of"... what basis do you have for saying this...? You're obviously much better informed than most of us... whistle

So you're getting racers' pit gossip about Robin but haven't thought to ask their views/opinions on Carole?

If you read my first quote you will see that I was asking people's opinions. But all you lot jumped on me for asking, so once again will she be any good at it?

The race director is the same in any motor sports even F1. Maybe she will go on to that later if they let her or maybe she is dedicated to Drag Racing only.

Only comment if you have something to say worth saying
