Ok.....a little competition.....let's have a guess how many full passes there will be in Top Fuel and Funny Car. There are 4 qualifying sessions plus Eliminations. There are 8 Top Fuel and 3 Funnies. Oh and what about Low ET for both as well.
Some would say "nil" or "zero" or "none"... because they are only running to 1,000 foot! I’m gonna go out on an optimistic whim and say Jari or Stig to make a 4.00 or even a 3.98… wouldn’t expect the newcomers to race many complete passes but I think the old hands will put on a good show if the conditions are right. Seeing Jari at the Festival of Power you could tell they were preparing that car for some seriously quick runs, just whether it hooks up or not. Or blows up.
I know there’s only 3 but I think funny cars could get pretty serious, they are so evenly matched and I think there will probably a fair amount of ego involved. You don’t go to the lengths of running a nitro funny car team without wanting to make some proper runs in front of a crowd. I reckon one of em will hit 290/300 if conditions are OK, and my money would be on Gordon Smith for the event win, even if it’s more by consistency than speed
Pro mod qualifying should get pretty fraught, Bobby Wallace might make a surprise leap up the field, he’s been getting consistently quicker. Tero Laukkanen may win event if he can combine that tremendous top end speed his car is capable of with good RT’s, but I guess it’s more likely to go to a blown methanol car
I’m no expert though, anyone else got some educated guesses?

It's 17.6% compared to my guess of 23.9% for the dragsters. Yes, it's a bit worse, not massively so. I suppose the funny cars have been improving a lot of late, so perhaps I am being a bit harsh. We'll see.
The FCs have had an outing this year, most of the TFs haven't but then I suspect that the TFs will contest more qualifying sessions (points incentive).TF low et 4.01, AAFC 4.39, TMD 5.31, PM 5.97. Hoping to see some great passes in SSB and SSE, 2 fantastic classes
With the weather looking ominous for sunday, Saturday's 2 sessions might prove pivotal and with Micke G always seeming to take 2-3 runs to get the right set up it'll be interesting to see what happens.

Been looking on the Eurodragster site, looks like I may have to drag myself out of spectator retirement and come and take a look at the motorcycle powered car of Rhiannon Bellenie. Looks to be very consistent time and speed wise - and those reaction times - if no nitrous yet this could well be a mid to low eight second car. Great to see one out there again. Best of luck Rhiannon.

WOW, what a show these guys put on yesterday, 6sec SSB can't be far off. The whole day was end to end & I cant recall any downtime which had its drawbacks because I didn't get round to the pits at all. Day off today then another long drive down tomorrowGassing Station | Drag Racing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
