Hi all,

Basically I'm looking at getting into drag racing, and I've been looking at buying a crate V8 engine, and all components and building it myself, the only trouble is is that I'm struggling to find a place which sells crate engines over here, does anyone have any suggestions?
Much appreciated
Haydn smile

Op, your after a crate engine that's forged inside etc. I'd look at the american specialists over here, real steel, rodley motors etc. Do a google search. They'll have stronger stuff then an alloy ls but it'll be older technology. It'll suffer any mistakes you throw at it more readily. If you fancy an LS then look for an iron block 5.3 but even then it'll still have piss weak pistons in it, to weak for drag racing. You may find one over here.

Are u going to use a carb or mappable efi? A holley is nice and simple, you'll be out racing all the sooner.

Had a change of plans! Instead of buying a new engine etc... I'e purchased myself a 1971 Ford F100, absolute beauty, 390 FE Big Block, 265hp and a mountain of torque haha. My plan is to clean it up over winter and get some real power out of it from Rodley Motors, already had a chat with them about it, all for a budget of a few k, maybe up to 5k

^ Sounds like a plan. You'll be racing in next to no time.
