When you are at Goodwood, take a look at Jason Phelps' Funny Car and Ian King's Top Fuel Bike, plus several other bikes from UK and USA, and pay us a visit on the Santa Pod stand in the Trade Zone.

The Electrimotion shutoff will trigger if the car passes a given point on the track and hasn't already been shut off by the driver by that point. I don't know where the transmitters are installed at Santa Pod, but if they are positioned according to Electrimotion guidelines, they won't trigger until around 400' beyond the finish line[1]. Since Roger's accident happened before that, I don't think the automatic shutoff would have come into play, and I think it was just that Micke was already off the throttle. In theory it would be possible to give the crew chief a means of remotely operating the shutoff in the circumstances you describe. In practice I'm not aware of anyone in Europe that does that.

[1] I wonder if they have two sets of transmitters, one for 1000' racing and one for 1320'? That would make sense, and certainly I've had mine trigger earlier than 1720' from the start line.

There are test transmitters which I suppose are handheld but that's more for scrutineering purposes, if someone triggered that on the startline both cars would shut down.
Yes there are two sets of transmitters for the different finish lines. I have a feeling they're on different frequencies but I'm not certain. Do you have a Top Fuel specific receiver?

Honestly, I don't know. I imagine we must have, because it needs to be triggered by the earlier transmitters rather than those further down the track. Different frequencies would be the obvious way to achieve that.

It was my first Main Event and I really enjoyed it, I entered Street Eliminator in my golf and had loads of fun racing some really impressive cars, I managed a PB on street tyres (11.67 @134) and a pb on MPH on another run of 136mph and was knocked out by Stu Williams in his Supra in the Quarter Finals https://youtu.be/tDgVJbllqMk

It was a lot of fun and would like to do it again next year.... perhaps with a bit more traction
Well done Carl, great vid. You've got me checking SE out again. You're not going to win the comp but that's a seriously impressive sleeper Golf.
