I am looking for team recommendations. I am helping a friend who wants to see if he will enjoy racing by working up to it via trackdays and instruction.

He aspires to have a BMW track car, so I have hit on the idea of him going towards the PMBWs. He can spend a season...get a car, do some track days, get ards and and enter into a race or two. If it works out fab, if not he can stop and sell the car (or keep it and still do track days).

So I am looking for team recommendations ideally in the middle of the country (nottingham way ish). They will take him under their wing, help source a car, prep it, take it to track days and run it, provide a good instructor and be nice! He (like me) is an older guy, early sixties, reasonable funds (without being silly), will respond well to intelligent tuition!

So any team recommendations please?

Thanks
Bert

Graves Motorsport (Essex) or GFR (Reading) are the only two real teams in the paddock - everyone else is privateers for the most part smile

I'd speak to Gary or graves Motorsports at alex says

Could also get onto the Facebook group or forum and try to speak to a guy called mark Parmer, he helps a couple of guys out and is based around Milton Keynes. Not a full blown race team as such but been racing for years and more than capable of helping

I am indeed smile I help to organise the CSCC Magnificent Sevens and still have fun with friends in their Sevens on trackdays.

And a good job you do too wink

With Gary's help and advice, subject to inspection I've bought this little beauty:

Can't wait smile

Very nice! Gary and I had a long chat yesterday, all sounds good. Shame it's not me doing it frown

BMWCC trackdays are very well mannered and novice friendly if your friend would like to try one out, we also offer free instruction sessions.

I went to see Gary today with the friend I am scouting for. Very impressive, proper setup and Gary is great. Very friendly and genuine and perfect for my friend.

Saw your car Dave, looks good on the flesh.

Wish I was having a go, but there's only so much you can do in a season. Quite fancy a z4 though!!

Thanks again for everyone's help.

Thanks, you've seen my car as much as me now. Hopefully work is underway to bring the suspension and a few other things up to the latest spec. Booked in for a trackday at Brands on the 12th of December, quite excited about it. smile

Hope you told him I sent you!

Should have said you were near by - I live about 3 minutes from his workshop.
