Thinking of having a family holiday around this event next year.

I'm considering Gold grandstand seats at the end of the start finish straight but the costs mount up when buying for four people; general access tickets are only £66 for the weekend, can anyone advise from experience what viewing is like at this circuit and would general admission be too much of a risk?

Thanks
Richard

Viewings not good without a grandstand ticket, especially at the interesting bits where they erect fencing if there aren't grandstands.

The grandstands at the end of the pit straight are good for getting a feel of the speed approaching T1, seeing them brake and go off to T2.

I wouldn't bother without a stand seat somewhere.

Budapest is a fun city, usually reasonably inexpensive though everything increases around the GP weekend. You can get to the circuit by bus but much easier to drive down from city, parking usually handled quite well.

We went to the Hungaroring last year and had Bronze grandstand tickets, that's the grandstand on the opposite side of the track to the pits, overlooking the chicane (the one that Lewis went straight through on lap 1). We bought them because they were cheap (£66 next year) with the thought that if the view was no good we'd treat them as GA tickets. As it turned out the view was great, very close to the track and we had incidents right in front of us in every race. We did wander around a bit on Friday and there's plenty of good GA spots on that side of the track. Only downside was it's not a covered grandstand and it was roasting hot that year. We had a great time.

Just to add, we stayed in Budapest, got a cheap apartment near the end of the Chain Bridge, great area for eating and drinking in the evening. We got the metro/train out to the circuit (Mogyorod is the closest station and is a 20/25 minute walk up to the track), cheap as chips. On race day we got a cab out to the circuit in one of the "official F1" cab companies (think there were 3 or 4 of them last year), cost about £20 and you get to drive in the VIP lane approaching the circuit so no queues, don't use one of the non official cabs as it costs twice as much and no VIP lane.

I am from Hungary been there couple of times. I'd advise you to get some accomodation, all of them are cheap but wathc out for dodgy taxi drivers biggrin

The view from the Bronze 1 grandstand, you really are close to the track, the grandstands in the background are at the end of the pit straight.

Tickets booked, went for Bronze 1, thanks for the recommendation.thumbup

Can I ask who you flew with and booked the apartment through? Thanks in advance.

I've booked flights via A1 travel; I think Wizz is the local airline that flies from Budapest.
