Hello members , so this February I will be attending the nhra winternationals in pomona. Since this is my first time going and taking the whole family . We will be buying gen admission
tickets . Are there any TIPS you can pass along in how to save your seat or general seating area when you get up to look around. (I've heard you can tape a blanket to bench area where you want to sit . Is that true?)....

Can't advise about General Admission, I'm afraid, since I haven't used it in years -- have always splashed out on Top Eliminator Club since 1998. However, don't overlook the GA seats on the west side of the track, which often aren't too crowded. Bit of a trek around the back of the tower to get there, but worth a visit. Try a different view each day, from both sides. If it's your first NHRA race, I think you'll be impressed. Don't miss visiting the NHRA Museum either -- they usually hold a bench-racing/meet-the-stars evening after Friday qualifying. The rest of California's quite interesting too...

Also make sure you remember where you parked your car!
Years ago I hired a car and drove to Pomona. Watched the racing then couldn't remember the make or colour.....Spent a long time looking at Reg numbers!!

Very true. Pomona car park stretches a lo-o-ong way. One evening, after wandering the pits long after racing had finished, I spent an age searching in the dark before concluding the car must have been nicked. Turned out to be there, of course, just further out than I could have sworn I had parked it. Didn't make that mistake again.

Done Pomona a few times. We normally go GA on Friday & Saturday then reserved seating Sunday because it makes it easier to wander the pits between rounds but still have a good seat. As has been mentioned by an earlier poster Friday night at the museum is great if it is on, it wasn't the last time I went. The other thing worth doing is taking a trip down to John Force Racings old Yorba Linda HQ which they usually open up from the Wednesday to Saturday for fans to take a look around.
