The majority of UK drag racing fans watch the highlights coverage of NHRA drag racing on Channel Five & Five US, as they don't know about www.orbit.net and it's sports channel Orbit ESPN.

Orbit ESPN broadcasts two hours of qualifying and three hours of eliminations from each NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Event, it also broadcasts one hour of qualifying and eliminations from the Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series featuring TAD & TAFC. “Inside Drag Racing” is a 30 minute programme featuring Pro-Mods, IHRA and other drag racing classes which is broadcast weekly.

lf you want to watch the entire 2007 NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series and the Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series on Orbit ESPN next year then consider buying the system. Orbit ESPN broadcasts College Football, American Football & Major League Baseball. Orbit also broadcasts 4 movie, 4 entertainment & 4 news channels, 5 family & kids channels & the US version of the History Channel. On the Super Comedy Channel they had a one hour special of John Belushi on Saturday Night Live.

The system is not cheap. The 90cm Channel Master Dish including brackets, cable, labour, etc cost £494. The Orbit Satellite Receiver including six months subscription to the Mega Package cost £240, this included a £50 courier charge from London to Gateshead. After six months the subscription is approx. £28 monthly.

Mr. Ken Marcell of Adila Satellites is the Satellite Company to contact as he was most helpful to me.

Adila Satellites, Adila House, Unit 8, Abercorn Commercial Centre, Manor Farm Road, Wembley, Middlesex, HAO 1YA.

Tel: 020 8902 2233. Fax: 020 8902 0233.

Mr. Ken Marcell info@adilasatellites.com

You can use a smaller satellite dish the closer you live near London, just be sure to get an excellent satellite dealer/installer. Ask for a survey on your property to make sure you get a clear line of sight between the satellite dish and the Atlantic Bird 2 Satellite.

The satellite details are:

Atlantic Bird 2 AB2 @ 8 West

Frequency 10973 MHz _ Horizontal, FEC ¾, 27500 Sym.R.

I didn't need planning permission for the 90cm dish, if it had been 100cm or above I would have.

That is a very expensive dish...! I have both a 90cm and 110cm Triax, and they cost under £100 each including mounts and ultra low noise LNB. The smaller one even has an H-H mount and actuator jack - still under a ton.

Shame I can no lomnger use either of them as I live in a listed building. Buggershite grumpy

Family Guy Jim...Family Guy...ESPN does not show it. I think its Fox who do.

The size of the dish and the man involved makes me think of the episode of 'Only Fools and Horses' when they steal the sattelite from the airport only to get a 747 heading towards there flats...

More like light aircraft in Gateshead though!

Are you watching ESPN on your smallish PC screen or is it linked to your TV. I watch Orbit ESPN on my 40" rear projection TV.

Tonight at 10 pm on ESPN is the 2006 NHRA Awards Ceremony, I watched it earlier and John Force is funny. Tony Schumacher won the Top Fuel Championship but Doug Kalitta got more applause from his peers.

Yeah, but I've already seen it. It was on at 5.00pm on Sunday (and it was free with no massive wok on the side of Chateau Bowler)

Just in case you miss it, Force spoke at 100mph (no change there then) and after personally thanking all of his team by name, the Sarge practically apologised to Kalitta for stealing the championship
