So the old man lets her drive one of his motors next year.
Will she deliver the results or maybe take a while to settle into funny car ?
Anyway whatever happens she is very easy on the eye !!

She's already done some more than decent passes on the testing day that follows most national events so she going in the right direction. Plus she's had it on fire, so has got that 'experience' out of the way.
Good luck to her, she will do fine.

yea earlier in the season using one of the old Mustangs she ran a 4.9, with John's experience and the best tuners and crew in the world I think she'll settle very well in a funny car next year

I just hope and pray for Ashley Force's safety and well-being. A modern-day nitro Funny Car looks to me to be a man's job, she's John Force's daughter and she's tough. She's OK at it but she's not her dad and to put your precious child in one of those monsters must be an agonising proposition for the man. Fantastic drivers like Jack Beckman and Mike Ashley can just walk up, climb in and drive one and win right away but she is a young lady, ambitious and determined, but still very inexperienced as a professional nitro funny car driver. Somehow I think she will eventually win a race in the car, but I wouldn't be surprised if her crew chief has a strict standing order not to set that thing on kill. I believe her safety will be the paramount issue as long as her father is involved with her career.

Its an odd thing to get your head around as a parent; putting your child in a position of possible danger balanced against wanting them to achieve their full potential. I have no doubts there would be family arguments if John said NO to her getting into a funny car.

Would it stop me putting Danielle into my street eliminator car? - no funny car admittedly but still a quick car. I'd do it like a shot if she wanted to.

Ok that post borders on stalking!

She has come from possibly the best racing stock the worlds ever seen, her and her two sisters Courtney and Brittany will do exactly the same if they want to! I wouldn't be suprised if she wins a meeting in 2007 because as far as i'm concerned she's a awesome driver.

As for a dad watching his son / daughter put him / herself in a dangerous situation to reach their potential, my father said to me his heart goes into his throat when I go the line, especially when I wanted Bob Glassups lane at the august meeting, he said there and then 'Shit he's rolled it!' but I never, so it's all good! He knows nothing will happen to me because of the sheer volume of protection in these cars. John wouldn't put his daughter in a car if he didnt think she could do it, I think that goes for all parents and they all know their offsprings limits (Like if my old man tried to enrol me into degree level mathmatics... no way man! )

What's a 274?.

It's a number. Often used after 273 while counting.

I see no reason why a young woman such as Ashley shouldn't be in the hot seat of a modern flopper, they're safer than back in the day when the likes of Paula Murphy, Shirley Muldowney etc piloted them

Her pedigree in drag racing up-bringing is second to none, she's come through the ranks of super comp and a-fuel with a season of funny car testing too, I'm sure John wouldn't let her drive one if he didn't feel she was competant and she wouldn't do it if there was any doubt as to her confidence

Good god man. I take offence to that comment, being female myself. Her safety is as much a priority as is the other godzillion Joe Bloggs who also race on this earth. I'm sure she knows exactly what she is getting into, its one of the most famous, if not THE most famous racing family in history. Everyone has to start somewhere and her father, i would say would have to be the best mentor money could not buy.

To be honest i find your post rude and sexist.

I also find flying toilets comment towards your post rather rude, although true, as well.

lt wasn't meant to be rude and sexist. Shirley Muldowney had some very bad fires when she drove a Funny Car, why do you think she quit and raced a rear-engined fueler instead. Ashley should be okay, even though she'll find wrestling a short-wheelbase nitro flopper physically a lot harder than steering a dragster. Should the car crash or catch fire, that's a whole different ballgame, and it'll be interesting to see how she copes with being put in such a position.

Will Force worry too much about her? (and affect his own driving)
lf she doesn't have immediate success how will she and Force handle it? Remember the enthusiasm for Hilary Will.

I find your post incredible. I'm sure men too, would find it hard to steer in a fire also. What do you think? Ashley would do what any other being would do in such a situation (if it ever arrises) and why would John put her in such a car if all he was going to do was worry? Sure, any parent would feel a twinge of "what if" but it goes for male and female. I have dreams of one day driving my own super gas car, and to see remarks like this makes me quite cross. I can do just as well as a male counterpart.

Again, i am offended by your posts, you may not realise it or intend to, but they are infact sexist.

Dan, i know you are cheeky monkey!
