Hello all its my first post (sorry if its not in the correct section) and i'm reading the drag race threads and came across this one.
Re the main event i cant wait now! Ive been going to the pod and long marston (showing my age now lol) for over 20 years and its still THE motorsport to watch.
I'd agree with noggin that more cars in qualifying is great for the spectators point of view as we get to see more runs in that class, so whether or not teams have the budget they are there to qualify/race and so makes for a great meeting imho.

The problem here is the difference between quality and quantity, I think we would all like to see 30 cars going for a 16 car field in every class BUT the reality of it is that, as has been said before, racing is expensive and I for one would rather see 8 cars or bikes for that matter all going to qualify to the best of their budget and ability, than a hit and miss show.

I´m happy with 24 cars in "my" class, promod.
Is the Camaro finished and ready to roll?
I´m working with Mikael Lindahl this year. Mikael and team who raced the black 57 Chevy has built a new car during the winter with a Cynergy Camaro body and a Tim McAmis chassi. We are planning to test in Malmo this weekend. Check out the Camaro here: www.kendallmotoroil.se/teamkendall/nyabilen.html

What has happened to his '57? I really loved that car, it was great to see a '57 on the track in Pro Mod in something approaching a stock style. That alongside Freddy's truck are two cars probably now sadly lost to Pro Mod as aerodynamic drag is becoming a bigger factor at the higher top end speeds seen recently, and I for one will miss them.
Our test with Lindahls Camaro in Malmo looked like this: First run 1.02 60 foot then clicked off, second 1.01 shifted to second gear and then clicked off, last run 1.02 60 foot, 2.69 to 330 and then clicked off after 3.2 seconds and stoped the clock at the 1/8 mile at 4.18. Would be a low 4 on a full run. The car goes straight and no shakes so far.

Best get the dragster in the booth then!
Had I any say in the matter, it would have been there long ago :-) But actually, I rather like it as it is. Of course, that's not to say it wouldn't look better in black...
Besides, at the moment, I'd rather concentrate on getting it down the track, something it mostly failed to do at the weekend :-(

Nope. Cruel as it sounds, having the meeting rained off suited me, as I couldn't have made the first round anyway. We thought we'd got it all fixed after the last run on Sunday[1], but when it came to heading down for the first round on Monday morning, it just wasn't happening. Still, the car's back at the DRE workshop now, and should be ready to go for the Main Event. Having to be pushed back to the pits from the start line 3 times was not what I was hoping for this weekend. Easily my worst race meeting ever. Everyone has their bad meetings, though, and I just hope that my bad luck has all congregated in the one weekend and that the rest of the season will be plain sailing.
[1] Hell, we thought we'd got it fixed every time we went down to the line, but each time there turned out to be something else wrong, in addition to the faults we'd fixed since the previous run.
