Are you working for the McDonalds at the ME as well tet?

Nope. The McDonald Racing car isn't out at the Main Event, so I get to drive there this year (first time I'll have driven at one of the FIA events, too).

According to the latest entry list (8th May) there's now 4 funny cars to make up for the loss of one T/F

Macdonalds' car hasn't appeared on any entry list, so we haven't lost a top fuel car. Calm down, Noggin the Nog, no need to panic yet...

As far as im aware, you cant do licencing runs during an FIA event anymore, drivers in FIA classes must already hold the required licence before the meeting, hence Derek Flynn and Paul Inger Udtian running last weekend at shakey and pod to complete their observed runs for Top methanol licences to compete at the Main Event.

I think the no observed runs rule at Santa Pod FIA events is purely pragmatic rather than anything else. Given the large field sizes, allowing observed runs would just delay the running order. I suspect that the Santa Pod and Mantorp rounds would suffer from this, but I'd be surprised if licensing runs weren't allowed at the other rounds.

The Main Event really is looking healthy this year - The Pro classes are offering 10 in TF, 8 in TMD, 9 in TMFC, 4 in FC, 11 in PS and 24 in PM while the sportsman classes are as full as ever with 40 in Su Pro and 42 in Pro ET! I'm also really impressed to see an 8 car Comp Eliminator field with 5 of them being Brits.

I think we should applaud the British racers who have entered Comp Eliminator so as to not affect the National Championships in Super Pro. It appears that Steve Nash was originally entered in that bracket but has moved.

I don't see the problem of entering a different class. Surely everybody wants there class wants more competitors? I hope people are not dictating who can and cant enter what class...

i don't think it's got a lot to do with affecting championships Jim,more to do with going fast in a no breakout situation....
In fact i quite like "affecting" championships.... to win it all you have to race them all...thumbup

Yep. As one of those potentially affected by "interlopers" in SuPro, I'm quite happy to have them there. They've as much right to be there as anyone else. So what if they're not in contention for the championship? We're not in contention for the championship with the fuel car, but we'll still be hoping to mix things up at the European Finals, and maybe throw a spanner in the works. If the eventual champion isn't good enough to cope with that, then maybe they don't deserve to be champion...

Racing is racing. It doesn't matter who's in the other lane, you still have to beat them to win.

I think we should applaud the British racers who have entered Comp Eliminator as it is a great class to watch and I'd love to see it take off over here. It isn't for everyone but the very fact that the top 2 E.T. brackets in the UK have 82 competitors between them suggests there is space for it. If any of the Pro Mod racers were after even more track time Comp Eliminator has PM/A and PM/AA categories which enable Pro Mod legal cars to run in Comp Eliminator, and AA/A might also be open to the alky boys from NFAA when that isn't running, but I would have to check the rules on that one - Kenneth Feldthusen runs AA/A with some success.
