I first went to the Pod in 1967 when i was 12. Been drag racing ever since. Crewed for various people. Owned and rode "Cloud Nine" Pro Stock bike back in the early 80's. Still love to go just don't get many chances these days as a single dad.
Any pics Geoff ?I cant for the life of me remember your bike, but the name rings a bell.
Noticed I was a bit late with this but what the hell !!!

I am Michael Dowdy and as Big go'75 implies, have been spectating since Whitsun 1975 and only ever missed one major meeting. I think I paid £1.50 to get in and another 50p for a Paddock pass. For a while I did some work for Drag Racing News and even had an article on Al's Gasser published in the now defunct Rod & Custom magazine.
I haven't got round to racing yet but you never know. I do admire the amount of commitment put in by all racers, as well as everybody else who keeps the sport going.

First went to the POD as a fresh faced 16 year old (28 years ago!) when I used to hang around with the Surrey Street Rodders. I rode up there in Pinbal Wizard the day it became the UK's first road legal 10 second car and I was bitten by the bug.
Have been back on countless occasions, the last 7 years to participate in the RWYB sessions - my best time so far is a 15.62 (into a 0.3 headwind) - might not sound fast but there is something perverse that only a few will understand about making one of these run faster than a sierra cosworth :-)
