Hi Craig

The last time I saw you your Mum was giving you a telling off and you were still wearing short trousers in those days.
I was sorry to hear Terry has passed on.
We went back to those Muscle Car days and I used to work with him sometimes.
You have done well.
All the best Ricki
Hi Ricki, it's been years! I wasn't sure if it was you or not, glad to see you still have your hand in the racing. Believe it or not, I do remember some of those early days. Mum still tells me off occasionally, usually when I wind her up about having a 34 year old son! Same trousers to, just alot shorter! If your up at the summer nats this weekend, make sure you come and say hi.

Good to hear from you.

Craig.

I told Andy Frost at the weekend that if I'd found out about Drag Racing earlier I'd have been doing that instead. Andy said I'd have been broke quicker, I told him two divorces did it quicker than that.
LOL @ that Gaz..

I'm Sparticus! No...! *I'M* TOG!!!

Err...

I'm "Scotch" Rob Inglis, I've crewed the last 10 years on all the various Knut Soderquist top fuel and funny cars and now with Micke Kagered Racing. Started out doing the bottom end and gradually worked my way around everything, of late been helping Al Jackson on the setup and tuning side and now assisting Edvin on the clutch and Emil on the tuning side for Team Kagered. I live outside sunny Aberdeen and work as an independant drilling consultant in my 6th year of business, and most recently provided Frosty and Slinky with some financial assistance to buy an even bigger stick to beat their little Red Victor with... wink Been working away when time and money permits on a 1972 Holden HQ the last 5 years, originally acquired from David and Caroline of Laffin Gas rocket dragster fame. Knight Racing Services/Superpower Unlimited SBC and Frost Racing Transmissions combo in that, hopefully hits the streets later in the year and we shall see what time it does on track in due course. Should look like Red Victors bigger, blacker Aussie half-cousin smile
and you know how much we appreciated it too Mr Inglis..biggrin Looking forward to seeing "the half cousin" out soon.
TBH this is probably the best thread i've seen on here in a long while. It's good to know who folks are and what they do/have done.
I should have had this idea myself eh Wil?..lol

Mark Shepherd,39. Been a fan for about 20 years, but family and work commitments prevent me from attending many meetings. Drive around an orange van fixing broken cars as a day job and am currently building a 4 pot turbo Volvo doorslammer which will be finished one day.

Jon Gwilliam from South Wales, amateur photographer and long time bleacher bum at Santa Pod since 1973 with a gap in the 1980's when other things took over. Crewed on a few cars in the early days under the aegis of the short lived South Wales Drag Racing Association. Shameless slingshot dragster, fuel altered and vintage funny car fetishist.

Dominic Coleman, drag racing fan, spectator, domcoleman.co.uk website owner....

First drag race meeting was at Blackbushe, May 1983 then aged 14.

Try to attend 2-3 a year at SPR or SCR, funds allowing. Got a young (brainwashed) lad who is very much into it too. I have total respect/admiration to those racers who have given their time to talk to me and offer my boy a sit in their cars (even though he chickened out on a couple of them).

Racers I know of in my local area:

Martyn Sanger - Super Street
Simon Farmer - Super Modified
Andy Burfitt - 9.50 Bike (only met once)

Luke Bennett

Crew chief of Relentless fuel altered.
Driver of Devils Advocate II, again will be a blown alky altered.

Been racing since and before I was born. Only driven my old manual Rover powered altered to a best of 11.14 at 124mph.

So far best ET of 6.63 with Relentless, hoping for a 6.2 at the Summer Nationals.

Lawrie Gatehouse....tries to keep a low profile, not always successfully...

This thread echoes something I said some time ago, along the lines of...if participants didn't use 'nom de plumes' we would all know who was who... but is it a case of hiding one's identity so as not to be attributable for some of the more contentious comments ? LOL.

Is this the same Lawrie Gatehouse who turns up to the Pod in a brand new Bentley the same colour as his race car that wants to keep a low profile. You love it the same as all of us. LOL.

Hi folks,
My name is mark exley and I was introduced to drag racing by one of my best mates about 5 years ago and have since become addicted. I am basically a noise junkie, into loud engines and classic heavy metal (Saxon, Motorhead etc). My background was watching circuit racing but I only watch historic stuff these days. The link is that my favourite circuit raceing is Supersports Cup and World Sportscar masters, both full of V8 power sleds like Lola T70's.
I may start some dumb threads but would appreciate patience from the rest of you if I ask the bleeding obvious. If you see a Saxon T-shirt it may be me.
cheers
Mark.

Hi, ladies & gents
My name's Peter Knight. First drag meeting, 1984 Cannonball run. Watching since then. Took up F1 stockcar racing 1988-1991, which is where I met Alan Jackson, T/F tuning god, since a good friend. Started Knight Racing Services, building American V8 Engines in 1996. Started in drag racing actively in 2000, as Crew Chief for long term mate Andy Frost in the Canto Racing T.A.D. Started building the Canto Racing Top Fuel team in 2002. Made it to the track in 2003, with Jon Webster's help. Kept it all going as crew chief until it all got a bit dear in 2006.
Still love the sport, but think it's best to keep up on Eurodragster these days rather than going in case I get re-infected....
