Howdy-do-dee.
I run the Drag events at Bishops Court in Northern Ireland.
A rather humble spot but we have fun there every month.
Fastest car we've had run with us was Mick Begley's Gaijin who ran 8.301 @ 169.29 on 13th Sep '09.
Good to see a forum with... well, adults I suppose. Good to be here. Cheers

Good turnout of Dragracers and Eurocar mondeo's. Great promise but poured with rain. So off to Modello park down south, and it did the same there. Great w/end. Smax, 35 Chevy. Tont Baker,Pop. Chris Isaacs, Steff Milam, Trever Greaves xr4.

names Jon Ireland, age 23. only really got into drag racing myself in the last 2 years with old trusty aka a white '96 honda civic, tho ive always had an interest. ill be in the newly formed Street Honda FWD Series this year so hoping to get some extra racers into it, everyone has been a tad shy so far possibly by the thought of not having a serious car, but the first round winner was a crx with bolt ons (bracket racing)
if anybody here was trackside at shakeys this weekend you may have seen me blow a shaft on the line sat morning...then granny launch all sat afternoon on my last spare shaft... good times

My Name is Richard, been going to Pod frequently since 1976. Engineer by trade, but retired now. went to the dark side, F1 and circuit racing for many years, but came back to drag racing properly about 4 years ago. Worked in Top Fuel in the US and Europe, unfortunately not allowed to get a racing license due to a spinal injury following an rta in 89 on the way home from Pod finals. Had to learn to walk again etc, but now throwing all my time into a new business, and bringing as many potential sponsors to drag racing events as humanly possible.

Hi All, George Kinghorn here.
Been into Drag racing since my teens (40 now so go do the maths)
Started spectating then got into crewing at the Pod
Firstly crewed for Barry Sheavills, then a guy called Dex Dexter (dont ask) then a all to brief spell with Tony Betts whilst he tried to get a deal together with Knut Soderquist (now theres a story all in itself!)
Then crewed for Andy Kirk in the early days of him having Rat Fink - Oh and briefly helped Jon Webster with his super gas Sierra (not that he needed any help but I was in training for when Rat Fink was ready)
Unfortunately the excesses of life then took over and I let a lot of people in the sport down (sorry about that guys) and so slinked back to the spectator banking.
Anyways as I got to my 39th year on the planet I thought, gees Ive never raced my own car and Im nearly 40. So the planned trip to Las Vegas for my 40th Birthday was scrapped (Sorry Marcia) and I bought myself a 1998 LS1 Camaro Z28 with the plan to go racing in 2011.
The cars not perfect but is a good runner and I decided to run in American SuperStock and Sportsman e.t. at York.
The years going well so far and last time out (late July) I got to the semi finals in Sportsman e.t.
Best run so far is 13.75 @ 102mph, canny I think for my budget.
Planning to run full national sportsman e.t. championship next year if budget allows.
See you at the track!
