what most of you don't know is that the guy 'racing' the tesla was just a sales guy... the fastest run in the tesla was actually done by Sam, the guy who races the Black Beetle in this story.

To see a beetle do 11's is impressive regardless of it being petrol or electric...

I look forward to seeing the keyboard warrior sponsored electric drag car on the track next year though from some of the posts above...

Oh and this is not the death nail for petrol cars, in fact it is quite the opposite, the more electric motors can be developed, or any alternative energy motors for that fact, the more wide spread their use and therefore the longer petrol will be available for the future... Law of supply and demand is that prices will rise as demand grows and supply falls... don't know about you but i'm not looking forward to the days of £3.499 a litre, it will come, just when is the point!

E.J. Potter (the "Michigan Madman", yes him!) Built an electric powered 'slot car' in the 60's. Allison V12 powered generator, two huge reels of wire and an MG1100(!) was the incarnation that i saw in an old 'Popular Hot-rodding' I believe it used electric motors from some kind of aircraft system. Ran 10's. but had problems getting bookings! I believe he wrote a book about his bikes, cars, tractors etc. but i have never seen a copy, and do not know the title.

0-60 in 3.0 secs and home built..how can you not get excited at that ? Yes..it's far too quiet..if the builders are looking at this thread...what it needs is a few amps diverted to a massive speaker...you can choose the sound....V12 ? V8 ? V1 rocket ...

it gives me hope.. that when we all end up having to run on hybrid/electric/biofuel/flux capacitor /whatever at least there's a chance we won't be stuck with the performance of a milk float

as i am a v8 man with a few hp to play with, i was speachless when i saw this car run. just like the sammy miller days. no real noise then came those numbers. yep i love the noise of a v8 but you expect a fast run. well done boys you took alot of us bye supprise. racing in any combo for me is good if your doing what you want. as long as its legal.

Frankly i don't care whether it has a V8 rumble or not. The fact that the guys have used their brains to make something work is fantastic. Well done guys.
