Just read of the sad loss of Tony Merry, a real nice guy and in my eyes a legend in uk drag racing,i spent a lot of time talking to him about his exploits whilst driving my current drive, R.I.P Tony and deepest sympathies to his family and friends

Very sad news indeed, Tony was great fun to be around and a very tough competitor. He was a good friend for many years. R.I.P. mate and sympathy and condolences to your family

A sad loss, the Liquidator Ford Pop was my favourite car when I 1st used to visit the Pod.

Tony and his Pop were instumental in me getting the drag racing bug and I'll be forever grateful to him for that. I'd probably have a lot more money if he didn't but I had ten years of great fun. Thanks Tony and RIP.

I would like to respond on behalf of the family to everybody who has taken time to post their comments about Tony. Each and every post has been read by the family and all of your kind words are very much appreciated. The funeral has been arranged for Friday 6th August at 1230. The service is to be held at Weeley Crematorium (Colchester Road, Clacton on Sea, CO16 9JP) and the wake will be held at La Cascada (Fox Street, Ardleigh, Colchester CO7 7PP). Everybody is welcome, Family Flowers, anybody wishing to make a donation should send this to St Helenas Hospice, Myland Hall, Barncroft Close, Colchester, CO4 9JU .
