Will the facility offer a site for camping during a large racing event ?
Yes, an area for camping will be available this summer. And the plan is to have a village with simple cottages to rent for the season 2012.

Hey WF that's big news. Some listings show both Swedish rounds, confusingly. Sort of takes the impact out of the news a bit.

"The Swedish Automobile Sports Federation (www.sbf.se) has made their decision to inform FIA, the international federation for motorsports, that they have approved Tierp Arena in Sweden to host the second of the total of six races in the prestigious European Drag Racing Championship 2011."

The above is from Tierp's press release. Bemused !

Blimey, wonder what the inside story is around that then ? Thanks for the info and I note, as you say, Mantorp has disappeared from the listings on ED as an FIA round but remains UEM.

Interesting, has Mantorp for the cars been withdrawn by Mantorp?

Last year at the Speedgroup meeting there was an announcement that the Santa Pod events would be withdrawn unless an agreement on some sort of rights share was reached.

"Ivan Sansom, DRO’s European correspondent, reports that Mantorp Park, the traditional Swedish stop on the European tour is rumored to have withdrawn its application for an FIA championship round this season with a plan to revise the drag strip at the facility for a 2012 return. Mantorp's UEM European drag bike championship round is still on the schedule. [02/08/11]"

From dragracingonline.com

5 rounds for cars it is then.

Notice on ED that Top Fuel Bike at the meeting at Mantorp is to be run over 1/8th mile unlike all the other rounds. Mantorp has always had a short {and downhill} shut off area , is it this that has caused it's loss of the FIA round.

Considering that both Speedgroup and Mantorp have yet to make an official announcement then "rumored" is the correct term

may be a rumour to you but i have heard it officialy from speedgroup CEO and as a speedgroup shareholder I Know it to be true.........this is what i hate about this site everyone wants to split hairs and get one up on everyone else, Its in black and white on eurodragster do you think Tog would publish a rumour??
he knows it as a fact as do i..........the rest of you can debate it amoungs yourselvs in your usual style

PS eurodragster works very closly with speedgroup and when tog publishes speedgroup news or news relating to speedgroup as this does then you can accept it as the official speedgroup news and that speedgroup have sanctioned the articals release
