What does it matter why it's been binned,it's off and that's that.Maybe the promoters/facility management don't wish to reveal their reasons for pulling the event from the schedule. Not everything that goes on in the sport is for public consumption, I suggest this is such an instance.

Just watched the web tv cast of the Tierp event two weeks ago and just wanted to say that in such a short time they have achieved so much over there building that facility. Despite all the different opinions expressed on this thread, I think everybody must agree that the facility has taken European Drag racing a big step forward. It must be a positive step. The racing was something special also of course. I watch NHRA regularly and the Tierp TF race could have come from the States with a couple more cameras in place it looked that good.

Its interesting to hear Keith Bartlett praising the arena there and stating this is the level for new arenas. He has mentioned the possibility of Italy being involved on numerous occasions for several years now. Does anybody know anything more about this ? It seems a bit of a mystery to me. Do they have a drag strip or drag racing scene there ?

Regarding Italy, they don´t have a Drag Strip but some airfield races.
Check out dragster.it for details, click on the "multimedia" button and then on the event banners.
Mostly "tuner" cars or "compacts" with the odd V8 inbetween.
Some french/austrian/german drivers sometimes.
Some italian riders/drivers take the long roads to FIA/UEM events,
such as Luca Carbonera SSB, the Ferretti Bros (FB/TFB), Riccardo Giliberto ST/TG etc etc.
Rico Anthes was organizing a big 1/8 mile race at Monza Autodromo ages ago, happened only once.

I have heard the "big track" rumors, too, and Mr. Bartlett once explained that the track
"in northern Italia" would be his "jewel in the crown". That was some years ago.

Now, btt, I wish I had been at Tierp and congratulate the great effort taken there.

I stayed at the camping in Tierp Arena and went for a shower in the morning and found 20 showers for gentlemen with warm water, I guess it was 20 showers for the ladies also.Didn´t check. And that was at the campingsite. You can also buy electrical power at the campingsite. smile
