What would a DC5 be like at 10 years old and 80+k Mileage?
Discussion
I'd say they age really well and just make sure you have a good look around it for crash damage as the steering/geometry and suspension is key to enjoying one (+mechanicals but they are robust).
I ran mine 5 yrs and would buy a 100k miler without too many concerns. Controversial I know but many will have been on higher mileages before they reached our shores and are still going strong. Testament to a well built car. I can't categorically back that up but having used mine every day and tracked it a fair bit I saw what was starting to get tired, and I'm a big guy so seats etc should have been looking knackered. When I sold mine on 60k miles (from newish) it looked almost completely unworn, as opposed to many low mileage cars now which frankly look tired.
Buy on condition would be my advice.

Does the s2000 feel compromised being a soft top?
Bit confused by this comment - Are you inferring that the S2000 may be compromised in the same way the Audi S4 convertible is? Because it doesn't work like that - being a built from the ground up convertible, it doesn't have a wobbly chassis. The DC2 vs S2000 comparison. My co-worker had a DC5, loved it, had it for years. I let him drive my s2000. He bought one within the month

How would you compare them? I'm currently looking at both and I have found a really nice dc5 for sale. I have no preference to rwd or fwd. I would be using it as a weekend car, occasional track use (10 per year) and a driving tour to the alps. Does the s2000 feel compromised being a soft top? I would love to have both!
If its just for a weekend car, I'd choose the S2000. Its a fantastic car, The F20 engine is a master piece. But to be honest, with either you are getting a brilliant car. The DC5 will turn more heads as they are rarer. Gassing Station | Honda | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
