"Normal" 3.2s tend to get 290bhp or so, 300bhp absolute tops (91-94bhp/litre).

The NA2-R apparently had a blueprinted engine, no word of any other changes. So probably 300bhp, maybe stretch a few more out of it. But nowhere near 340. Remember the S2000 engine was released 10 years later and had a redline / limiter thick end of 1,000rpm higher than the NSX, hence why 118bhp/litre was achieved there.

Also note that the 996 GT3 (106bhp/litre) and the Ferrari 360 (112 bhp/litre) were both released 10 years later as well.

Breathing mods are most effective on the NA1 3.0s, where the exhaust manifold is definitely sub-optimal...

Don't forget there was a 1.6 Civic with 160bhp in 1989. If they had put a more aggressive high rev cam in the NSX I'm sure they would've squeezed a few more bhp out.

At the time of launch, the NSX engine was one of the earliest VTEC engines (maybe even the first developed).
Integra DA6 first, shortly before the CRX.
