hello, im picking up my new s2000 in a few days, the only main thing to get done on it is a small tear in one of the seams at the top of the roof, about an inch long.

what are my repair options? is there some sort of adhesive I can use to re join it?

thanks

chris

I managed quite a neat job on my old one.

I got some black thread (nylon I beleive so it wouldn't fade) and stitched it up to pull the rip closed. I cant even sew and managed this.
Then applied stormsure and a black repair patch from ebay on the inside. It held up perfectly and never leaked.

I kept meaning to cut the stitching off with a scalpel after, but it really didn't bother me that much as the car was used with the rood down 90% of the time.

+1 for Stormsure, I put it on the inside of the car (as directed) and that's it - it's 100% waterproof. Where the glue seeped through to the outside, it started to look a bit off colour, so I painted it with perm marker and it's basically invisible, well worth doing. Few months onwards and it's held up fine.

Go in with your eyes open. It is very cheap don't get me wrong, but it is a cheap roof.

If you have OCD then don't go to Swansea!!

He did my roof for me, first time round it was crap so he redid it (although he didn't want to!!)

2nd time round it was very good for the £280.

Edit to add - plus for the repairs. I used everything and patched mine up several times with puncture repair kits, stormsure and even sewed roof vinyl over the patch. Whilst they all did the job for weeks or months they all gave way eventually.

I'd save your time and money on repairs and just get a roof sorted. The boys at Swansea even double up on the material on the shoulders.

Another one for Jack Smith's here. I tried different rubbers, a few different other small fixes to stop a couple of leaks and gave in and got a new roof. Can't fault mine to be honest, did a good job, fits perfectly certainly no louder in the car this the oem Honda one.

And even if it goes to st after 2 years, another one hardly breaks the bank. Especially when a Honda one is £800 plus vat and fitting!

I also used stormsure glue to patch mine up. It'll work for a time, but will eventually need re-applying. It is also still obvious that you have a tear. I got a new roof from Jack Smith's as well. No complaints from me on the whole, but the area around the rear screen isn't quite perfect.
