I think cruise can only be fitted to cars 2006+, as that's when they went from cable throttle to fly-by-wire.
When I was looking cruise control kits for cars with a throttle cable ( not just S2000's)where considerably cheaper ( circa £100 )than the kits for "drive by wire" ( £500+ ).

The logistics + price put me off.

2006 was when "the drive by wire " came out and there where other modifications as well including changes to the inlet system making induction kits different for pre / post drive by wire .

Hi Folks,

After owning numerous BMW convertibles, and being on the search for a Z4M, I bought a 2006 S2000 on a whim.

Why didn't i do this sooner? I love it!! in the sunshine I'm inclined to take it for a spin over my 997 Turbo as it brings a bigger smile to my face.

any must-do mods i should be thinking about?

haven't had a chance to take photos yet. picking it up in the morning.
After having a serious itch for a Porsche since learning to drive, yet owning an S2K for a few years now as my play car I was rather surprised you'd take it out over the Turbo....might need to rethink things!

The recent PH new post got me looking into these with great interest. But i cant seem to find one I like the look of. £10k seems about right to pay. Any less and they are dogs. And why do they all have 60,000 miles+ on them?

I did notice an Edition 100 on Ph for sale but theres no mention on mileage

I would dispute that anything lower than £10k is a dog. My car is on 61000 miles, is worth £7.5-8 and is not a dog.

Perhaps the problem is that the ones that are for sale are dogs, and the people with the good ones are hanging on to them hehe

K&N list the same kit pre and post 2006. Any more thought?

I cannot help you there but over on S2KI/UK they'll know .They know most things about the S.

I'm of the opinion that induction noise is not nice .

I've done the "airbox lid off " and the novelty wore of very quickly .

I have , however ,had the "UK exhaust mod" done and absolutely love it even though I think its getting a bit louder after 2 yrs . I'm almost (but not quite) sure I heard it "popping" very faintly on the overrun, the other day in an enclosed car perk.

I was thinking about this, as the car is as quiet as a fart in the sea. Where did you get it done?

Power speed in Ashford .

Charged me £100 but I took the exhaust off ,used stainless pipe ,42mm .

It still brings a smile every time I put my foot down .

That's a bit far. Bugger.

You don't know anybody who's had it done up north, do you?

Thanks. I've read through it before.

I was all set to call up the chap in Congleton, but it's a bit ambiguous. Is he Daytona Dave, the one who's not doing it any more?

If I remember correctly he was the one who actually saw the original thread showing the Z4 mod and adapted it into the "S2K exhaust mod" .

He did it for the cost of the pipes and must of done a fair few .I even considered driving up to get mine done due to the difficulty of finding someone local I was then having .

I eventually got pointed in Powerspeeds direction but was told later that they wanted in the region of £500 to do other's .

Daytona Dave has become a bit of a legend from what I can gather and I think he has a fair few owners arround at the weekend's .

I believe a few of them clubbed together and bought a hardtop for him recently in gratitude for his help .

As for the mod itself what I did was download a pic of the actual mod and show a few welders and ask if they can do it .

Mine took 2 hrs exactly so should cost realistically 2 hours labour + a couple of bits of pipe .

John.

Thanks. Pity that, I'm getting too old to get under the motor to remove the system...
