Guys,

I'm wanting to get a guide price for a car that my mum is selling. It's a '99 5 door Civic 1.6 SE auto, with 60k on the clock. A few dents but sound. Basically I want to buy it from her, but want to make sure the price is fair.

Thanks.

£500-700 depending on condition.

Yeah it's not really 'worth' a lot unfortunately

Civics have a large following but it's model specific and that model is really not desirable.

£750 tops really.

Thanks guys.

I loooked on EBay and a similar one (although non-auto) went for £1000, but ours has a dent on every panel, and the interior is a bit shabby too.

I dunno, obviously I want to give a fair price for both us and my mum. Based on the Ebay one maybe £850 or so?

If the dents are parking dings but the car has been mechanically looked after, then probably £800 or so is fair. If the dents are bigger issues, then for a private sale I'd be offering in the £600s.

Family is always tricky...have a look on Autotrader, see what's being advertised there. Use private prices less 5% for the sale value, use trade less 15% to get to private sale (just rule-of-thumb here), and then adjust for condition/miles.

Thanks, we've agreed £800. Some of the dents are a bit bigger than parking knocks, and some of the bumpers are scratched. Mechanically it's fine (although I went to move it this morning and the battery is dead!). MOT is expired this month too. Plus point is that I know the history of the car.

I think at £800, overall everyone should be OK.

Thanks for the comments.
