On the recent PH S2000 Buyers Guide I noticed a couple of comments about the risk of oil surge on track days. Is this a real issue I should be concerned about or something that only applies to modified cars with lowered suspension and track day tyres pulling more g than I would ever get in a standard spec car? I do fancy the odd track day but not at the expense of a wrecked engine! My approach to track driving is to only do a few laps at a time and to let everything cool down before having another go but oil surge is something else. A fraction of a second of no oil pressure at 9000rpm would be a disaster!

I think you are correct , track day tyres on track Tarmac and lots of "G" have caused the odd problem .

Butt there are plenty of guys including one of the mods on S2ki who have done many many track days with out a single problem, and lovgrovva is a very fast driver his car is now well in excess of 100k miles

So ask the question over there

A baffled sump fixes this issue and isn't expensive compared to a new engine. That said, from what I've read you'd really need to be on track tyres and doing very well to get near this being an issue. Plenty of people track them as they come with no problems smile
