Then now is the time to take it off.

I dodged a massive bullet last night, managed to avoid the biggest ever pool of water in the torrential downpour and thought 'Phew, lucky I have that hydroshield fitted'

Car then cuts out. After some cranking (on a roudabout blocking traffic both ways!) car goes again and spits out a lot of steam. I think I've properly fked it.

Luckily upon inspection today it seems to be running ok, no misfire, getting to and holding temp and pulling fine throughout the rev range.

The AEM is coming off tonight and the standard airbox back on!! Worth thinking about if you have the same!

Is this one of the AEM Long Rams that goes down into the wheel arch?

Short rams are a lot safer. I would be concerned about the steam though...Have you checked the oil for water contamination?

EP3 type R, but the same kit is used on lots of Hondas so it was more specific guidance.

I was lucky, there's a couple of others on forums who have lost engines!

Sell the AEM and get a PRM from Cananda. It sits right up in the engine bay. Worth every penny and it even sounds a bit better, a touch louder and aggressive were my thoughts having had both smile

Sorry, I, I assumed this was an S2000 for some reason. Not sure if they do them for the EP3, it looks like they do them for the 'SI' the states had. Perhaps it would fit?

Never had any problems with mine in my ep3. I drive like a grandad in it in the rain though so avoid all puddles. Ideally just a summer induction kit if using as a daily

There's plenty of motorbikes out there that run with an air filter exposed to the elements, these work even in the rain! (Google it)

It's only when they get completely submerged that you have an issue.

My current EP3 had one of the fitted up until earlier this year. It had an AEM down near front wheel arch but I did not realise it had a hydro shield on. Anyway I started noticing on M1 commute in the rain that it bogged down around 4-5k in heavy rain whilst trying to overtake every now and then.
Eventually got this off when in the garage and found that the shield over time had become essentially useless. Instead of repelling water it effectively soaked it up which caused less air to come in.
Had already decided to get rid of the AEM by then and replaced with a Tegiwa instead.
