tipped to be around £75k
I was told last week, by a dealer principle (who with all due respect have been told little or nothing about the car) that is could be north of £100k and perhaps closer to £125k

That sounds more like it to me as well.
If they're targeting the 911 I'd imagine it's not the base model.

Targeting the 458, mp4 12c, Huracan etc...just at about 60% of the price, same as the original.

Same base tech as the LaFerrari, Porsche 918 and Mclaren p1, only much much cheaper...the only fly in the ointment might be the bmw i8 which has done the same (all be a smaller petrol engine, lower performance) however comes in sub £100k

Can't see Honda doing any half measures so it could be very interesting.
If the new F1 engine can compete with the Mercedes next season, that could also give it quite a boost I think.

Is anyone on here actually signed up to a pre-order?

I tried to pre-order, but my dealer was literally clueless, and didn't know what to do frown

They've got used to selling average cars to non enthusiasts for the past few years (2 Hondas in our household by the way).

It wouldn't surprise me if the information given out by Honda UK to the dealer network was poor. When the Civic was facelifted a few years ago a salesman told me he got more information from the civinfo forum than from Honda UK.

Well, that's pretty much it.

(rant mode on)

I'm a previous customer of the dealer. The NSX is one of only two 2015 cars that I am genuinely excited about. (The other is the Gen4 Prius.) I want one. And without wanting to sound like a dick, I have the money to buy one, assuming it comes in at around the 100K GBP mark.

So I rang them up. Can I come in and talk about the NSX please? I want to understand the ordering process and if I like the sound of it I will give you the deposit cheque.

If you need proof of funds, proof of intent, NDA, whatever, then no problem, just tell me what to do.

It should have been the easiest supercar sale ever. If you've ever seen that Simpsons meme with Homer saying "SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY!!!" that was basically me.

First they said they'd never heard of it.

I asked them to go and check.

Eventually they came back and said that yes, there was a new NSX, but Honda had given them no information on it, so they couldn't take my money even if they wanted to, since they wouldn't know what to do with it.

They didn't seem particularly bothered to find out, so I lost confidence in the whole thing, and decided I would reappraise the situation after the car was released. I thanked them for their time and hung up.

Now, I know that all dealers can't be like this, since clearly 100 people have managed to put down deposits. But it was such a poor show.

I love Honda as a company. They are possibly the greatest personal transport company ever. But they desperately need to raise their game on stuff like this.

Honda absolutely need to get a grip.

I waited whilst my Accord was in the dealer getting a fuel filter changed a month or two ago and got chatting to a salesman. He asked me how long I was planning on keeping it and what I was thinking of replacing it with. I told him it probably wouldn't be a Honda as there is nothing in the present line up that interested me.

It's almost as if they've lost interest in Europe.

I bet most of the dealers have little knowledge of the Type R Civic due out shortly.

I do actually have pre-order in from a while ago, but haven't heard a single thing from the dealer since then. They were pretty clueless about it too at the time.

Spoke with a guy who runs 3 franchised Honda dealerships, they have been told pretty much nothing

I have a sneaky feeling Honda may let the UK down, compared to the USA we were always poor buyers of the original NSX.

Previewed at Detroit early 2015 and "worse" made in America.....

I think if the Americans were unhappy about the quality of Honda's coming out of their factories, they wouldn't be topping sales charts months after months.

A brand new facility was purpose built for NSX production. Mainly because America will possibly be the biggest market for the NSX.

This cannot be a let down, too much talk and R&D invested in it.

You can sign up for updates on HUK's website, though i'm not sure how the info will be drip fed....

Although it will be 2016 before it reaches Europe!!

Had I had the cash to buy, I'd have contacted Honda UK direct about my deposit.
Their dealers seem to be letting the company down, possibly because Honda doesn't throw money at the market like the rest of the oem,s therefore not so many discounts, but that's what comes from being a completely independent company I suppose.

Anyway, it looks like there could be some spin offs from the NSX production line, like a baby nsx, and possibly s2000 replacement, also the S660/Beat (not from NSX) will get a 2015 launch in Japan, and the bigger version coming to Europe later, should be a fun car!!

It's only a fleeting glimpse and about 1 second of engine note, but it looks, and sounds, very promising indeed.

Thanks.
I'd be very surprised if Honda don't produce something a bit special, it's such a competitive sector and I'm sure they'll want to make a real statement.
