My Honda CRV 2000 has developed something that bothers me seeing it has to do with my parking brakes.
In the morning when first releasing the parking brake, the dashboard indication light for the parking brake remains on!
However after driving for a few miles, the light goes off ?and seems to work ok for the rest of the day.
Could this be caused by a faulty/ sticking switch?
If so, where is this switch located and could I replace or clean it up?
If not what could this problem be?

Likely a sticking switch. As you drive, vibration helps return to the base setting. Maybe WD40 might cure it?

Number 2 in the diagram....

cheap enough to try a new one, but am wondering if the issue could be due to cables being stretched, that might need tensioning.
