Any advice welcome.

Wife wants a CRV, could I persuade her with an Accord Estate ?
Budget sub £10k, Auto Petrol preferred. Heated seats a bonus.

There's an Accord section here, along with a CR-V bit.

Your budget will see you in an 8th gen Accord EX estate I'd have thought. Most are diesels though. I ran a diesel auto ES GT estate for a couple of years and it was trouble free. Tyres lasted around 15,000 miles on the front (Uniroyal Rainsport 3).

Servicing was pretty expensive but I kept mine within the dealer network due to a lack of Honda specialists near me. Honda do operate a fixed rate service scheme for cars out of warranty which is at a reduced rate.

I enjoyed my Accord and only sold it when we got a large caravan, for some reason the diesel auto Accord has a poxy towing limit of 1100kg so we replaced it with an XC60. The quality of the Honda is better in every respect.....

I half considered a Cry a year ago when j was changing cars. I thought a 4x4 would be a bit different, but then my brother bought a Freelancer 2, so didn't fancy the jokes of soft readers so looked at Accords, and I'm glad I did, I love mine.

Mines the range topping Type S, which was only available ib 180bhp diesel, but but on an Ex spec, which has got everything the type S has got other than the body kit, you could have a 2.0 or 2.4 petrol. There is a lower spec Es which is the most common, and there are Gt variants of the Es and Ex, which adds a body kit, in about 2010 they replaced the Ex Gt with the Type S so hard to find a later Ex petrol with a kit, but they were available as an extra so they are about. I can't remember the specs perfectly, but I think Ex gives leather, memory drives seat, heated front seats, I think nac, Bluetooth handfree, climate control, power tailgate (definitely my favourite novelty bit, brilliant when it's raining and your shopping) as well as other stuff.

Where abouts are you, if you South Wales, Bridgend or Swanseaish your welcome to have a gander at mine. When I was looking used ones are hard to find locally, every one seemed to be the other side of the country, I had to go to Cambridge to get mine. I'm chuffed with it tho, its definitely a worthy successor to my IS200 (behind the Accord in the picture).

Thanks for the info, I'm Cambridge way.

Are the 2.0 and 2.4L Accords cambelt or Chain-cam ?

The CRV is a good car. 10k should get you a nice 3rd gen car. If you want heated seats you'll need the top spec EX model, and many of those will be petrol auto.

The UK Honda forums are very quiet. Presumably just not enough to talk about, as they rarely go wrong?
