I have been looking on and off in the ads for Type R Accords in recent years as I really rate them, having nearly bought one in 2008 (foolishly I bought an old Impreza instead which then dropped its bottom end bearing, writing the car off). However, most of the cars that come up for sale are around £2K and look like some boy racer has modified them to death...

This one has been for sale on Autotrader for ages and seems a straight car, but the price, at £3495 is more than normal....Is it too high?

I don't know if it's over priced, but the driver's door appears to be a slightly different colour to the rear door.

It's a hard one but I reckon they're worth this, however, these cars aren't really in demand (which is brilliant) but does mean that you can get them way cheaper. Just look out for bulkhead rust which is the biggest killer of these things. Really aching to buy one but need to wait for my years ncb to come through

with that mileage , I would say yes. Have a look around there are cars similar for a grand less. I have seen a few around that price but usually with a far lower mileage.

I've notice this, I am reluctantly needing to let my ATR go due to a sudden change in living arrangements- admittedly it will need the clutch replaced sooner rather than later but is otherwise in very good mechanical condition and has extensive service history (including the second timing belt change etc soon after I purchased), but despite pricing it right at the bottom of the market to reflect the above I've had little interest beyond the usual off-sea oil workers.

I've only had it up for a couple of weeks but I thought it might have had a bit more attention- just dropped the price to £1,600 and so will see if anyone bites.

If no luck at that price I will be putting it into storage (for a small fee) until I can get it into the workshop in the new year. It's a great example of a brilliant car, but it's definitely a buyers market at the minute.

As for the modifications, a lot of ATRs will have a K&N Typhoon and aftermarket exhaust- they are extremely common on these. Obviously it's personal taste but they do sound cloud9

Yeah that's the one! I am a member on AccordR.org, also a member of the main DC2 forum too (even though I sold my DC2 about 3 years ago now!). As I now own another 2.4 Accord I was sniffing around another Accord site for some info- that might have been the one you mention.

I would happily take someone for a spin however it's currently SORN and kept at my parent's place as they have room for it at the moment. I might well be re-insuring it though as it's been 2 weeks since it's been on the road and whilst it's been ran and moved about a bit at their place I like to keep cars being run properly! I will keep you posted thumbup
