Too rich?

Been offered an 05 car, mileage in the low 60's, very clean and with some bits like mapped Hondata K100.

Any comments? Can't make up my mind whether it's good value or not. I know of a similar car that went for 5k two weeks ago but didn't have Hondata and such.

Sounds like top money, is is a Pemier or Final edition?

I wouldn't say mods add much value, unless they're exactly what you want (or nice OEM style touches)

Not a special edition. Does have air-conditioning though!

Depends entirely on condition/history.

There's a lot of dogs out there.

Full history, 3 previous owners and valve clearances checked (which considering the low mileage, says something about how the car has been looked after, imo)

Condition, bar the odd chip here and there is extremely good.

I'd be all over that if it's as good as it sounds.

Shame it's not a premier though.

Seems like sensible money to me. Go see it and buy on condition and history. Make sure you check it over fully.

I have an 06 premier edition cosmic grey, 48K miles with FULL Honda main dealer history. Cant put a value to it as I don't want to sell, but if I did, I d want top money for it. Point is, its hard to price a car like this as you need to base it on what it is at face value and the "overall" car - condition, history etc.

Thing is, I have form in buying cars at top prices then taking a bath at resale!

I'm trying to avoid that here :-)

I won't put more than 3k on it over the course of a year. Which means this time next year, it'll still be significantly under 70k. Surely I'd get my money back?

I can't see it losing much if anything, assuming you are buying and selling privately.

Passing it on to a dealer and they'd probably offer you £3k for it.

I think its too much money unless its a Premier.

Saying that I doubt you'll lose much more than a grand over the year.

I can't see why not, the depreciation seems lower than ever on these.

I bought my 04 new in for £16k and sold it 6.5 years later for £6,750, so losing about £1.5k a year on average which I didn't think was bad a for a car that was new to start with.

Mine was immaculate and only had 30k-ish on the clock. Even if it is down to £4.5k now as it is a year older than the one you are looking at, I'd still have only lost an average of £400 a year in the 5.5 years since I sold it. That's less than it would have cost me to tax & insure it.

It might only drop £1k over 2 years or with a few scratches and a couple of carpark dings could end up being worth £3k or less so it depends on how it spends those couple of years and who wants it at the end. Most people wanting to spend top money on one will want the top spec runout cars.

At £5.2k you are into FN2 money which is also a factor.

True, but A) I don't want an FN2 and B) 5.2k will be scraping the barrel of FN2's, IMO.

Missed this. Yep, buying and selling privately.

There's easily a grand's worth of good extras on the car too - all less than a year old.

If you take the mods into account then just with the K100 than brings the car itself down to £4.5k (£720 for a K100 and mapping at TDI North) which is maybe getting more realistic so definitely sounds worth it if that is what you want.

Yes I'd say it is worth 5k iof you can get it for that price and it's as clean as you make out.

Most clean examples with that mileage go for 4.5k+ anyway, what colour is it OP?

Cosmic grey is common but still the most sort after so that will also help resale

The premier edition has tinted back windows, momo steering wheel and embosed Type R front brake calipers, among other things i think, been a while since i checked! For that money i would want a premier edition.

Im similar to the chap further up, on about 65k miles, 2nd owner from new (first owner Honda UK) with full Honda service history... bought for 14k in 2007. I would want a decent price for it or i would just keep it hehe

Martin. Your car looks great. I am running the same with 48K miles. I don't see these dropping in value - so long as they are looked after and have FHSH, they will retain value. Super low mileage cars will go up no doubt. I have mine to drive, not to keep the miles really low!
