Yeh theres no way you would get £7.5k for an ep3 no matter how much you just spent on maintenance.

These cars have a ceiling currently until they become classics.
Perhaps but its not for sale and already been offered 7.5K for it. Declined the offer as I don't want to sell it.

Btw, 2nd gear sync, new clutch and new steering rack and it's only done 48k?!

Tbh, that would have alarm bells ringing for me.
Why? Its a 2 owner car and all been done under Honda warranty : ) I haven't spent a penny.

While they were doing the 2nd gear syncro they also did the clutch - when the previous owner owned the car. I wasn't happy with the steering - there was a knock. "No problem Sir, bring it back and we will sort it". Its under warranty till March 17. Anything it needs it will have whilst under Honda warranty.

It's the fact that it needed done in the first place, particularly the clutch.

Extrapolating the info; the car is currently on 48k, and the clutch was changed prior to your ownership - that rings alarm bells to me in respect of how the car has been driven.

That might just be me though!

Also, I'm genuinely amazed that someone offered you £7.5k for the car. Whoever offered it is one of a small handful of people willing to pay that for an EP3, imo.

Well, a non supercharged / non JDM car anyway.

The previous owner was very fussy and wasn't happy with how second gear felt. Honda approved the claim and did the syncro. It didn't need a clutch but as it was all stripped and apart, they put a complete new clutch in it, in situ : ) The bill: 1.5K

Also under warranty - both front calipers done in 2015 smile

I now have a perfect car and not selling it.

How many genuine, cared for premier edition Cosmic Grey EP3s come up for sale with < 48K and priced under 7K? None.

Anyone who wants a good one and can afford to spend the money will pay over the odds for one thus offered a cash offer for 7.5K for mine.

Small handful indeed, but it only needs "the one" who knows what he/she wants and happy to pay a premium to attain it.

Hi Jenzo,
Sounds like you have a cracking car, encouraging to hear that cherished examples are attracting a bit of a premium. Can't be many around now with a history like yours, so the £7.5k price doesn't seem that outrageous to me

Hi Ian

Thanks for your kind words. Original well looked after EP3s will ALWAYS warrant a premium over the tat that is out there and for sale.

It comes down to how badly one wants one and if they are happy to pay for the premium to acquire what is getting rarer.

Lets not forget that these cars HAVE and DO get driven hard. Trying to find one that has not been killed is getting harder and harder. It took me over a year to find mine and possibly THE last EP3 my local Honda dealer will retail (based on age and the fact that all the ones they see have been destroyed). My local Honda dealer have looked after my car since brand new.

If you have one and its low miles, hang onto it and don't let it go for silly money : )

I'm in this boat. I have a late 2005 Cosmic grey premier edition, totally standard apart from the different head unit. with just over 43,000 on the clock. Full Honda history, at Ash Honda Yeovil, and I'm the second owner. Until I had bought it no one had ever sat in the back seat!

It's a great car but I don't use it every day. I paid a good price for it a couple of years ago and I'm hoping I can get that and a bit when I come to sell it.

Stunning example! IF you were to sell it, what would you want for it out of interest?

Have you had any issues with it at all - other than interim servicing etc.?

Well, good question. I paid £6000 for it just under 2 years ago with 39,000 on the clock.

It needed a service. Most of this I did myself: all fluids except engine oil, all the filters except engine oil, spark plugs and valve clearances. I got the oil change done by Honda and an inspection. The same happened last year.

A couple of the front wheels had light kerbing, so I got all four refurbished and a couple of new tyres at the same time. I fitted the new pioneer double din head unit and a pair of front discs as well as they had a fair bit of wear on them.

Sorry to go on but I have done this to give you some idea where I stand financially with this.

If I did come to sell it I would be very disappointed indeed if I couldn't get north of £6500 for it. Like yours, I'm guessing, its like a nearly brand new car and if I couldn't get that I would hang on to it. Moneys not tight so it can sit in the garage.

I had a sticking brake not long after I had it but this was down to the pad seizing in the caliper. Due to the heat soak on the pad it had delaminated so I had to replace them all anyway. Other than that nothing to report in 3 and a bit thousand miles. The gearbox is great but I'm guessing a lot of this is because the previous owner was my wifes best friend and they had it from new. She is very careful with her cars and doesn't drive them particularly hard.

They used mine in the market watch for civic type r's last year.

So far it has been a pleasure to own.

Great to hear spudgun. I know you can get north of 6.5K for yours - its worth 7 - 7.5K all day long *if it also has A/C.

They are fun cars, bullet proof and v desirable now - esp. enthusiast owned cars.

Thank you Gents, especially your input Martin smile

Yeah, it has A/C. not climate control but a "just turn the knob" job.

I'm surprised of those figures but you do regularly see them up on specialist web-sites for figures with an 8 in front. The N/A days are gone now and I don't really like turbos. It's more fun than having the money in the bank, sort of.

I've been asked if mine is for sale by several strangers at petrol stages and people who know me have asked for first refusal if i ever do sell.

Even if i got a new car i don't think i would rush to sell, unless i got silly money for it and then i think i would still have to ponder... scratchchin

She has just been so good to me driving

I almost went for the S2000 in 2007 instead of the EP3 as they had a lovely one at a few extra grand in the Honda garage where i got the Civic but the insurance was crazy as i was under 25 at the time... same story when looking at DC5's.

If any of you manage to sell for North of £7k in the next 2 years then please update this thread as I find it very very unlikely.

If you paid £6k for it 2 years ago its not worth more than that now imo.

A friend sold a fully functioning pre-facelift with just over 100k on the clock for £1500 last year.

Don't take the lack of an update as proof positive on your opinion. As I mentioned I'm not in the market for selling. In fact I'm not even sure who your post is aimed at, myself or Jenzo?

Its worth over 7K "today" for anyone who wants one - period.

Who knows if they will be worth more in 2 years - supply and demand tells me it will be - or at least parity for what I paid for it.

I am not selling anyway and like spudgun don't need the cash, so not sure why this even matters.

"If you paid £6k for it 2 years ago its not worth more than that now imo." I absolutely disagree with this. You clearly do not know the value of these cars, what the market is prepared to pay at present and what premier editions are selling for. Stating that your friend sold a "pre-facelift with just over 100k on the clock" brings no value to this discussion. We are talking low mileage, last of the last premier edition EP3s here...

Mark this thread and watch prices in the next 24 months : )
