Afternoon folks,

I currently have an 8th generation Civic, 1.8 petrol, black. Up the road from me there's a yard owned by a metal fabrication company, and in that yard there are two FN2s that have clearly been written off but haven't been moved in a while. One black, one red.

Now I'm thinking about asking what they're doing with them and if I could salvage a few parts for a good price. Thinking black spoiler, wheels, maybe a few other bits. Just cosmetic stuff.

My question is, can a Type-R spoiler be retrofitted to the 1.8 (no spoiler at all)? If so is it difficult, DIYable, etc? Also, is there any implication with changing the wheels from 17s to 18s?

You might be thinking, just buy a Type-R. Well that is an option. I went to look at one in March but it was a dog. I've been seriously considering an EP3 but I put the back seats down in my car for the first time in ages today and forgot how very practical the 8th gens are. Just waiting for a decent FN2 to come up locally. But that's beside the point.

Any advice appreciated, thanks.

Did it for my friends FN, you have 2 options really. You can either drill holes through the perspex panel for the Type R mounting holes or you can remove the brackets on the Type R spoiler and silicone it down. We went for the second option and it worked, stayed very solid for a year before it was sold. smile
