Hi all - first post in the Honda section...

I've had an MX5 for about 18months now and I've enjoyed it, but at the weekend the realisation hit me that I want a bit more poke. I've spent a while looking at different options (TVR, Elise, VX220, S2000...) and I have decided that I just don't do the miles to justify a big spend. On top of that I really REALLY wanted an Integra Type R when I was about 18. And now I'm 37 I can actually afford one.

So I've been browsing around and seen two for sale - a Championship White car for sale on here: http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/h...

and a Milano Red one at a dealer: http://www.cdscars.com/content/2000-honda-integra-...

For the small-ish extra amount the Red car looks like a clear winner...perhaps even under-priced a bit? Any thoughts from those that know?

Red one looks a lot cleaner than the white. But the paint fade may be bad, doesn't seem underpriced to me.

Register on itr-dc2.com and check the classifieds on there.

Rust on the arches is what you want to check, as well as the usual VTEC engine, no crunching through gears, no smoke when VTEC engages.

White one has had a fair bit of paint work done. Front lights are dull.

Red one looks more loved, ATE super blue brake fluid. Backs up being enthusiast owned. Good underneath shots and a clean engine bay too.

You really need to test drive and you know when you find a good one.

Thanks both - the red one does indeed look the part. May have to pop along and take it for a spin.

Based on the previous MOT reports, the red one all day long (As long as the red paint fade isn't to bad anyway). The white one has had a few more advisories and some things have kept cropping up, whereas the red one seems to have had more love.

I saw that too - all that plus slightly more security buying from a dealer.

However Mrs. Actus Reus wasn't happy with this plan, so it may go on the back burner for a bit. Shame as the red one looks really decent.

Must have sold - wasn't me though. Spousal consent was well and truly refused.

Entirely understand! Out of interest, do you know what the mileage and price were?

Miles were circa 90k, price was £5750. Standard, clean looking Milano red car.

Thanks, seems like a good one. I had a Milano red (or was it pink?) car. Great machine which was happy on track and at Tesco. Been thinking of getting another once my E36 goes. Either that or a RS Clio...time will tell!

May I ask what a spec C is?

Spec C gives you tinted windows and a parcel shelf I think? It sounds cooler than it is hehe

Edit: sorry I'm thinking of the DC5. Dunno what a DC2 gets.

Hello!
I just stumbled across this thread, and realized your talking about the integra I bought two weeks ago! (Red DC2) .... (pink)
I went to see it, thinking I was going to buy the other integra I was going to go see the following Saturday, but when I realized the tyre I was kicking were bridgestone patenzas I realized it was an honest car, I'm very happy with it, and it's interesting to hear what you guys were saying about it, and the brake fluid?? I didn't look too much into what the add said if I'm honest because I didn't expect to buy it, my thinking was, if this is any worse than the guy says (as he was pretty honest in add) then it's going to be a pile of rubbish, he gave me 24hrs after buying to try and find any rust on the car, so sure enough I took it too a garage, and they said its "the cleanest one that driven in here" being an AMG specialist I can't imagine they see too many... anyway, there was a little bit of bubbling on the outside under the integra type r on the drivers side, and I was worried about this as I know what is most common in integras... but my mechanic mate ensured me its fine... I had a look when I took all of the interior out (to get to it) and one side isn't too bad, but the drivers side has came through to the outside, sure enough both the car dealer and my mechanic mate went very quiet at this point, so I treated it, painted, and sealed in the arches.
The car is very honest, he wasn't completely honest about it, but as far as it goes I'm happy.
I part exchanged my ep3 type r, and he gave me a reasonable price on it, but he did not budge on his price, my mate was the worst person to take with me to buy it and is probably the reason I couldn't haggle... anyway, let me know what you guys think, sorry if I snatched an integra from you mate.
P.S the DC Sports exhaust is amazing, it's not stupid loud until vtec and even then it's the perfect amount and comes in along with induction noise.

Do you guys think I overpaid? At £5800? Yes, he upped the price last min, I would have got it down, but due to pain in the arse mate, I could not... but is that not a lot? As you know it's done 93,000miles.
Does anyone know of anymore things done to it? It sounds silly, but I saw braided brake lines upon inspections, but I didn't know that it had that, or that it had different updated brake fluid (someone said above) ...

Seems about right, maybe a touch expensive. Get registered on ITR-DC2 and take a look at the classifieds, anything with less miles is closer to 8k and anything with more is going around 4-5k.

Interestingly I did see an advert on there for what looks like your car, but it wasn't at a dealer (Or certainly didn't look like it). Will leave it to you to investigate if you wish (Might not even be yours to be honest!) smile

😵😩 yep that's the one, it's good to know what mods have been done to it... but that price hurts!! Oh well...
What do you guys think to the mods on it? Do you think they will make a big difference to the car? It certainly sounds amazing (not loud out of vtec) and it drives fantastic... here's what that add said...

"DC Sports stainless 4-1 Manifold and system. Supersprint De Cat.
Honda Rear strut brace
Magnecor leads and K&N element.
Goodrige brake hoses"

"I removed the coilovers and fitted 98 spec dampers with top mounts and Eibach springs.
All OEM parts available.
All bills and Mot's for 14 yrs.
always used Mobil 1 oil and Shell v power fuel
It never uses a drop of oil and run superbly."
