So my EP3 Civic Type R has been making a fairly loud knocking/poping/clucking noise from the front right. Seems to happen only when turning when there is a load applied i.e. relatively heavy cornering and maneuvering (parking etc) but not when jacked up. Initially thought it was a broken spring (sounded spring-like) but having taken the wheel off the spring looks OK. Had a look under the bonnet today and noticed when turning the wheel the top of the strut jumps in time with the noise. I'm now thinking maybe it's the strut top-mount bearing? I'm going to try and get the shock off when I'm back home and check it over but has anyone else come across this or have any ideas? Video link below:

Seen mention of top mounts going on the forums for these, so sounds like a safe bet. smile

Sounds like your top mounts, they are a common problem on the EP3.

Mine would make a hideous pop/bang on full lock parking manuvours - hideous!

Thanks for the responses smile Took the shock off this evening, spring looked fine and top mount seemed to move freely so put everything back together and went for a quick spin and the noise seems to have gone - for now anyway, half expecting it to come back on the way to work in the morning! Not sure if something was loose somewhere but if it comes back I'll order a new set of Top mounts smile
