I could really do with some help please. 2000 Honda Accord 3.0 won't start. Breakdown has been out and says it is the immobiliser. Any one here know how to fix/bypass or of a garage who can help please? We're in mid Devon. Thanks!

Unfortunately I can't help directly, but try on an owners club forum. There are a couple but don't know if I'm allowed to name them on here. Sod it, one is 'type accord' and the other I know is 'honda karma'

If it's anything like the civic (which it probably is) there isn't a way around the immobiliser, it's part of the ECU.

Probably need a visit to Honda to get it sorted unfortunately.

OK, so here's where I am with this problem:

2000 Honda 3.0 V6 Coupe. It has broken down with the immobiliser light flashing. Was working perfect before now just spins but will not fire. Everyone (RAC who attended, Google and other forums) agree it is a fault with the immobiliser, which is inside the ECU. I found a specialist and sent off the ECU, both keys and the ring around the barrel. They tested it....and found no fault. Returned it, I have refitted it....but it is still immobilised.

I don't know what to do next. It's my partner's car, she loves it and is very upset it's broken. I can't keep throwing money at it and it really is too good to scrap: it drives great! (this fault aside of course). The battery was tested, that's OK.

If anyone has any ideas, please let me know. I will gladly give beer tokens to anyone who comes up with any idea to get it going, or indeed if you'd like to have a look I would be forever in your debt (I'm near Chagford, Devon). Lots of tea and biscuits if anyone could come and kick the tyres and suck their teeth.

I would call/email H-tune - https://h-tune.co.uk/

They could possibly have your ECU and remove the immobiliser, see if that cures it?

If you're still stuck, speak to Andy @ VTEC Direct. He's incredible with not only Hondas, but Accord specifically. Has gotten me out of a pickle many times!

Called VTEC, they have given me the confidence they can fix it for a sensible figure. The car is now being recovered to them.

Thanks smile and a double thanks from my partner who thought her P&J was only to be sold for spares/repair smilesmile

Yes, I did. It went to VTEC and they sorted it. It was two things, a faulty sensor around the ignition key and a broken wire/poor contact somewhere else. Running perfect now.

Great service from them, shame it was hundreds of miles away from me!
