Tosh,
I managed to get a full Mondeo 3 in the back of the CRV with room for a case of beer either side - mind you, it had been through the crusher.

Oh yikes, hopefully not on anything terminal?

Update on mine, dealer has put a new clutch in and we split the cost of a new flywheel. Also got an entire Ikea sofa in there, that boot is nuts. Pleasingly swift as well although the live MPG counter discourages sporty driving.
Nothing terminal individually, but all together too much hassle and cost to put right - would cost £600 or so even at mate's rates. So long CRV...

Thanks man. Hopeful that it'll give us a few years of not-crazy-expensive motoring. At the risk of tempting fate it does feel very solid and the engine's lovely and keen.

Clutch is slipping in the event we're keeping up with the saga, dealer has agreed to fix at his expense. I can't see a receipt for a clutch in the pile of paperwork so possibly it's got to 140k on the original...
Good choice. I had a 2nd gen CRV a few years ago with 140k on the clock as a second car in the household, and it gave us no trouble. The large load capacity was great for trips to IKEA or the dump, and little unusual features like the fold out picnic table in the boot were fun. The barn door aerodynamics meant that we never got more than 25-26mpg out of it, even on a long run (ours was a petrol manual). We liked it so much, we later spent ten times as much on a 4th gen CRV.

Pfft, I got a single divan, mattress and all the other crap in a non estate Mondeo 3. You're just not trying.
I admire your commitment to defending the Mk3 Mondeo in every single thread on PH!

If buying the 2.2 Cdti look out for a cracked exhaust manifold. There will be a smell of fumes in the cabin.

Honda just covered the parts on 56 plate accord where the 7 year 125k extended warranty had lapsed. Paid £300 instead of circa £650. Same engine.
