WBAC have offered me 43,200 for mine with 6k miles. Happy with that.

That seems very good ... there was an advertisement for an almost new car at £46k ... of course it may have been a "just sold" introduction to something else !

I will be taking delivery of my FL5 on 1st March. I wanted to ask specific experiences on the FL5 of PPF or the performance of the standard paint. I am a big fan of the Xpel Ultimate product and I have it fitted in full to several cars.

I would particularly like to know what experiences other people have had with the FL5. Is the paintwork generally quite good or is it prone to damage? Are there any especially vulnerable areas? How do the edges of the wheel arches cope and the side skirts?

I am thinking about just a front end PPF (using Xpel Ultimate) but I could be persuaded to go full PPF if others think it would be beneficial. I hope that the Type R will be a long term keeper doing only 2k to 3k miles per year.

Thank you for any advice.

It sold for £39250 ... £250 more than a dealer offer, + the 7.2% premium to CC ...

I know as owners we always want more but were you happy with what it went for? Without obviously knowing what you paid that’s pretty chunky depreciation for a limited run model getting the plaudits it is. I lost a fraction by comparison on my GRY of similar age/mileage (which made getting the CTR less of a reach) and they were no where near as exclusive (or impressive a car in my opinion).

Took mine to WBAC yesterday and they knocked it down to £42,850, which I’m pretty happy with.

Don’t really want to part ways now, but it’s doing more motorways miles and family trips than anything else.

The CC car wasn't mine ... I don't own one but like you have watched prices as there appear to be a lot of nearly new cars for sale.

When it was £36,666 + charges with the best bid by a dealer, it was good value for anybody wanting a car now and it looked a very nice car which the original owner had obviously specced to keep forever ...

Honda paint is crap, 100% get front, sills and rear arches done, tempted to get roof section too.

My car is still for sale 3k less than I got from the dealer back in October. The market is in a mess at the moment I suspect prices will settle after a turbulent period then fall into the usual drop in winter and pick up come spring. I suspect the FL5 will sit at around 40k end of this year.

My car is up for £2.5k more than I sold it to WBAC, at £45.5k it’s not an unreasonable price, I just got extremely lucky with the WBAC pricing algorithm. A month later they are offering £11k less! I assume it made a loss at auction.

I periodically check the WBAC value of mine - not really sure why. The last three valuations (can't remember the timings) have been £36K, then £43,230 very similar to yours JAMS, then back to £36K.

It just goes to show that the factors behind the algorithms driving the valuations can vary markedly from time to time, and you really need to do your research when selling a car to get the best price. Timing of course can be pot luck - as PH'ers when we fancy a change patience can be in short supply!

I picked up a brand new Racing Blue Pearl FL5 for £48,990 last week, that included a set of red mats and a the “Type-R” boot liner.

I spoke with a couple of dealers, cancelled my order with another as they were dragging their heels. Every dealer I spoke with had allocations left; the dealer I bought from had only delivered 2 prior to mine!

I looked at used vehicles but by the time you factored in RFL it was a no-brainer to buy new at £49k instead of used at £46/47k

They’re certainly a rare machine on the road at the moment and I love everything about it smile

Very nice! Mine arrives in 2 weeks, same colour as well. First brand new car for me so like a kid at Christmas currently.

Interesting enough here in NZ there is no real waitlist for them, only ordered it two weeks ago. Cant believe the price difference though, here in NZ they are 73k NZD, which is about 35,000 pounds on a quick currency conversion.

Which is around the price of the previous model in the UK ...

Pushing it through the £40k barrier in the UK costs an extra £390 per year in RFL for the next five years ... and if manufacturers sell fewer than 22% of their total car sales during 2024 in the form of Ev's ... then they could be taxed up to £15k per vehicle. The alternative is to buy new vehicle credits presumably at a lower price from the manufacturers who are over this 22% threshold ... such as Chinese Ev brands !

It's all a bit of a mess ....

They are certainly an excellent car ... if I had only one car to "do it all", I think it would be this one ...

Look out for the sticky steering, it was the straw that broke the camels back for me. We all like different things, but the crap stereo, intermittent wireless charging, rattles, and having to push on the windows in the morning to clear raindrops (the seal doesn’t make contact), were all niggles. But when I experienced the sticky steering on a 4 hour road trip, and the feedback from my dealer, and Honda U.K, was ‘we’re not interested’ that was me out. I was gutted but happy to have owned the car for 12 months and not loose my shirt.

I was looking forward to seeing it feature in the EVO COTY video but it hardly got a mention - although to be honest the whole production didn’t feel as special as I remember previous years. Still rubbing shoulders with some serious metal though.

God, history repeats. I think my 2002 Civic TypeR went through 3 steering racks in 2 years/100k miles.

Agreed, really disappointing from Evo.
