Anybody got a new type R with the 19" alloys? My uncle will be ordering one soon and wants to see what these look like. Can't see a picture on the Honda website?

Well evo give it a 5 star rating (euro only got 3.5 stars) and call it a 4 door nsx type-r with a razor sharp chassis smile . Two things that worry me is the insurance (I was once quoted nearly 3k for a teg) and the tyres must cost loads if used for trackdays (19' wheels) other than this I think I want.

Cheers Catz! They look like 997 TT wheels don't they! Not bad. though look like they may be a bugger to refinish if you kerb them.

I think is looks fab.

Im having a test drive of one tomorrow.

Looking to change my 996 turbo as I dont use it as I should, fancy a change of car, resent having so much tied up in 1 car and the Type R looks so good.

I will give my impressions from a test drive.

quite excited.

You might want to see if Litchfield's have got a JDM Civic you can try also...sounds far better than the UK one...

?

The Litchfield JDM Civic is standard.. Its a standard Japanese Domestic Market import. According to evo road test you can't even compare the two cars, the imported version is FAR superior and as someone else mentions the sum up goes so far as to call the JDM car a "four door NSX-R".
Looks like this...

That looks sweet but I wish they gave the real type-r treatment to the euro is well.

Thanks for the enlightenment. It does look good.

Had a drive in the Type R today. Was quite different to what i was expecting. Car nice and light, controls quick and responsive, good pull even low down the revs in 3rd and 4th, comfy and suspension coped well with the pot holes and poor surfaces.

Speed built up well, gently but steadily. Its a very nice car. I did like it.

Got back in the porker and the weight in the controls was trebble, 3x more for the porker. Type R would for me be a strong option for a town/local car insted of the porker.

Very impressed. Liked the 5 yrs service plan for £500 as well.

I agree, I test drove it a few months ago and it was completely different to my 4 year old Type R, felt much more grown up. Just ordered the GT version with sat nav etc in black, not coming until early november though. To be honest I want it now! Anyone want my old one? smile

confused

It's got a Type-R badge on it...what's "grown up" got to do with it?!? Or do you mean heavier, flabbier, and with less energy?!?

Check my cars out...I'm a bigger Honda fan than you're probably assuming!
idea

Oh...and my last sentence was supposed to be tongue-in-cheek...though it looks like you missed that.

More seriously...what do you mean 'more grown up'?!?

I can't really explain it, as soon as I test drove it, it felt better, more solid, more gadgets, in a different league. I've lived with my current CTR for 5 years and although I love it, it can be a real bone shaker. I realise that's the appeal, but for me it's time for a change! I see you have a Teg and an S2000, which do you prefer?

Tricky one. At the moment I'm still sorting the 'teg - it's an 8y.o. car, and although low mileage and with a fit engine, currently needs new disks/pads and proper tyres (the F1 GSD-2's are a bit squidgy). So I'm not pushing it to 10/10ths.

So the S2000, at the moment (esp. in the nice weather), is getting a lot of use. It's tighter, feels better built than pretty much every other car I've driven, has a superb engine...you don't even need to redline it, despite it being a performance VTEC! And a soft-top, which I wasn't overly bothered with until I got one! Plus, now I've got the braces on and the geometry sorted, it's actually got a half-decent amount of steering feel/feedback, and feels more planted than it did...the braces should be standard on the car, IMHO.
And I'm enjoying learning rwd...after 3 years I was still pushing the 'teg harder, learning IT, but I wasn't learning much more about ME. The S2000 is still new enough to be teaching me both...which is always enjoyable.

That said, I'm looking forward to sorting the 'teg...just sitting in it brings back some great memories of the last one...those bathed-in-adrenaline drives where you're repeatedly on/near the limit, almost dancing with the car. Plus, it sounds better than the S, and is a lot more playful (being fwd helps...).

Initial conclusion - the S2000 is the better car OVERALL. Combination of being newer, the engine/gearbox, and the soft-top. But it's not as much an on-the-limit car as the 'teg (partly my limits, I guess...I'm no Schumacher), it's not as aggressive, as egging-you-on, in-your-face, always-up-for-it as the 'teg. And I guess if I could only have one it would be the 'teg...not quite as good 80% of the time, but sublime that last 20%...

Thanks for the info. I traded a Teg in for my current CTR. Was one of the best cars I have owned. I still miss it, so I've been looking at the new shape recently as one of my choices for a second car.
