Echo A-Plan too.
Under £700 for a car with all my mods .. bonus
Oh, and bin the HKS filter. They are REALLY shocking on filtration. I mean a sock taped to the intake would do a better job.
Are they that bad then? All the mods came on the car but if I was going to modify one myself I'd have done something very similar. Any recommendations as to what to replace the filter with or would I have to replace the whole intake??Under £700 for a car with all my mods .. bonus

Simple filters don't do ANYTHING except make a different noise and cost you bhp on the hot Hondas (Honda spent a LONG time engineering these things...why should some cheap after-market company do better?!?).
You'll need to go for the full CAI/Snorkel to make a difference, and then <10bhp.

A good read ..
Look at the details at the end of the 2nd link.
I had an HKS on my old car. I took it off and inspected it, all the turbo intake pipes were covered in dust. I'll NEVER buy another.

Despite what Honda and others say the earlier the model the more frantic to drive that's why they where so popular with bikers when they first came out
Face lift model better interior and dash layout and may be exterior
Unless you have vandalism issues you do not need a hard top and if it's fitted you wont be able to take advantage of those day that start out bad but turn to being glorious or visa-versa
The hard top and its stand take up loads of garare room and are difficult to store elsewhere
If you must have a hard top then buy a GT as it's expensive retro fit to a roadster
It's a RWD car without traction control so you have to drive it properly especially as it's power band is 7,800-8,300 rpm (gets going at 4,000 rpm much better at 6,500 rpm but will pull from 2,000 rpm) or you'll spin from a "diesel spill"

Pull from 2k? IMO its frustratingly gutless. I had my first spin this morning. In birmingham city centre. At rush hour. From a "too much right foot and not enough opposite lock" spill.

it will pull from 2,000 rpm (or even less) but you wont get anywhere quickly MrFlibbles said:

yeap I agree with you again by "diesel spill" I mean just that"Diesel spill" is used to cover driver error and protect ego and insurance premiums
It's good to have someone tell the truth, I worry about youngster getting theit first non-driver assisted RWD cars and trying to drive them quickly in the wrong conditions
Flibbles - had a drive-out in mine last night (roof down before the hard-top goes on), and it was anything but gutless...it pulled like a bloody train...can't remember the last day I comfortably topped 100 leptons several times, half without really trying.
Of course, getting wheelspin at 50mph in a straight-line was rather eye-opening too! Not sure if diesel, leaves or a bit of ice, but it woke me up!!!
Bear - agreed. Although to be fair if you sort the geometry out it's really rather progressive (yesterday morning going to work had two moments on the greasy roads...first didn't get past 1/8 turn opp-lock, second was caught before it even developed...and I'm no rwd expert, far from it)
...but if I'm being honest it doesn't give you quite as much notice as say an MX-5 would.
That said, I'm not one to push it too hard in these conditions unless I have some room to catch it...

I'm not denying its a quick car, it just doesnt "feel" that fast. (bearing in mind Im used to turbocharged nutters with boy racer exhausts)
True, then it won't feel fast. My old Focus TDCi felt notably faster than the wife's Fiesta Zetec S, but an impromptu run home from friends proved they were pretty-much identical. S2000 on a run I suspect would just-about keep up with a stock MR2T. Not off-the-line though...
No idea why turbos (torque) gives that impression, but I suspect it has a lot to do with why magazines now seem to criticise n/a performance cars for being slow, when what they mean is 'feeling slow'.
Oh...and no-one even considers the better throttle-response from a n/a car now...although part of that is probably down to all these artificial electronic throttles...

Stock for stock an early MR2T will be on a par with an S2k ..
But it's the power delivery. The MR2T has a big fat torque curve, the S2k a long flat one ..
But that's NA vs Turbo .. the MR2 will pop, whistle, bang and wizz and give you a hard shove a bit after you plant the loud pedal. The S2k will just keep spinning the numbers on the dash.
Best bet is to blow the S2k .. then you get nice flat torque curve and the 'pull your face off' feeling.

Bibbs if you ever find yourself in Brum give me a shout. I'd LOVE a ride in the beast.
I'm not much of a modder to be honest - i think if I got bored of the Honda's performance i'd just replace it entirely.
Havoc - you're right about it being slower off the line that the MRT - seems an age in 1st before you get to the power in a traffic light GP situation. In the months of having it, I've done 1 absolute full bore brain out 6k launch. It feels every bit as quick then! Not so kind on the clutch though!

I'm only in Reading, and will be about next year for the Jap car shows etc.
It's not a pretty thing, it's got pin dents and scratches. But that's how I like my cars. Used.
My mate said it's the only car he's been in that made his eyebrows migrate to the back of his head .. Funny thing is, that's with a slipping charger belt. I'm only running about 6 psi at the moment (~310bhp).

I'm going to buy a 2005 S200GT next year. After doing the necessary research I could find nothing better as an allrounder.
Currently have a Tiger R6 (Kit Car). (I built it). It's up for sale at the moment in the PH's Kit Car Classifides. (The Red expensive one - but it's the best one).
For me the S2000GT has to be Black,Red/Black. For me its the only colour combo to have.
On Insurance. Best quote for me is with my current company (Liverpool Victoria). £485 with a £500 excess. But I am an old git at 56, and that's keeping it on my driveway too. (It won't fit in my narrow garage). A Plan comes a close second at £509.
I will not buy until the spring. I am retiring then and plan to spend lots of time with it touring in both the UK and Europe.
So if your planning to sell your 2005 Black, Red/Black S2000GT then, just get in touch.
