It looks nice at the front... then you get to the back and it looks like they ran out of ideas. Ditto the newer Preludes, but in the other direction.

Totally spoils both cars for me. Decent enough to drive, my Dad owned one and quite liked driving it, but they are soooooo far from good looking.

I just love them, 90's honda's were their finest models.

What do I love about my Honda

Very cheap to buy.
Very reliable.
Good fuel economy (if you dont VTEC too much)
Fairly easy to work on yourself.
Cheap insurance.
Still looks like a new car even at 15 years old.

What dont I like.
Expensive parts from Honda, although second hard parts are easily avalable and cheap.

And here is a pic of my ugly prelude :P

i am not sure why you seem to think i drive a mondeo as i dont, but i would love any mondeo even a 1.6 auto or even any car almost anyday over that shockingly crap 1990`s prelude.

My apologies, you drive a Focus ST, not a Mondeo.

Not a bad car, still a bit council estate for my liking.

you are getting this all a bit backwards.

haha 700 quid, maybe in your country son, but not here. Granted they are a bargain these days. your painting all preludes as 700 quid stters, when mine clearly isn't and so neither are a lot of prelude enthusiasts. Its immaterial anyway, this thread is about why Honda owners love Honda's.

well in England they are generally all £700 stters, although maybe the odd £1500 one does exist. so maybe that is where i am getting my sweeping statement from. have a look on ebay.co.uk and they will all have been butchered or near to being scrapped, people just dont care for them in this country.

I've seen them on Autotrader, such a shame. The cheapest decent one here goes for about 7-8 grand australian, they tend to be lest rusty here and most second hnnd prices reflect that. They were 45 grand (AU$) when they came out here new.

I suppose it takes all sorts eh!

Whereas I'd rather have a Prelude than a Focus ST - go figure. Interesting that Autocar et al raved about the "stter" in the 90's judging it to be almost a match for the then giant slaying Corrado VR6.

And I quote "New Prelude goes as well as it looks". They continue "VTEC (sic) car has the best four cylinder production engine and ace chassis"

A real stter then? I think not. And having owned one for a few years I can testify to having found it to be a cracking car.

PS. If you paid £20k for your ST you were seen off.

Prelude 2.2 VTI was a cracker for the time and with 200bhp and a 0-60 of 6.9 pretty quick even by today's standards.

And aye, I think this is way more interesting than a Mondeo, and better looking....

rather a prelude to a focus st? well mate you must be the only one, oh sorry im in a honda forum so you would say that even though it could not be true.

seriously im not slating it but come on its an old motor, times have changed, technology has changed. my mate with a new civic type-r actually prefers my car or would you prefer the prelude to that too?

theres being a die hard fan and then theres just being an idiot.

well actually with cars it generally does. faster, safer, more economical, just as much fun, better inside, better outside, stop me when ive proved my point, more grip, more reliable, better build quality, faster on a track, faster on a road....etc etc.

the ONLY better thing about older cars is they generally weigh less.

or are you saying old hondas are better than new ones?
i KNOW old fords are not better than new ones, and the same with mercedes, bmw`s, renaults, ferrari`s, nissans, shall i go on?

maybe peugeots are the one exception to the rule but then there is always one.

Haha,

Typical PH cant get past two pages without an agrument biggrin

Personally I would choose my prelude over a focus ST (or for that matter a new CTR).
I dont need 4 seats and I dont need £15k+ tied up in a car.

Its all a matter of personal taste and circumstances. If we all drive the same cars then this would be a very boring website indeed.

So, £1500 in a Vtec Prelude, or £16k (because that's what they cost new) in an ST? It would be £1500 in the Honda, every time. I've driven STs and they're rather boring - mind you, the same goes for many modern hatches. I don't see the relative value.

As for being an idiot, it's a shame you feel the need to make things personal. However, if you did indeed drop £20k on your ST, I'd suggest it's not me who is the idiot.

I find that the most ridiculous post on this thread. You clearly know very little about cars.

I would rather walk than own a new Ford. Having had the pleasure to work on the marques products i can safely say I'd rather keep my old stters than buy a new car. New most certainly is not best, and by claiming that you are either being incredibly naive or remarkably dim.

Oh and my car doesn't need a turbo to get usable power it just has it the old fashioned way!

Lol. Stick a post on the BMW forum about the best ever M3 and I'd wager a lot of people go for the M3 Evo.
