It appears that Amethyst Honda in Cheltenham, Gloucester and Chippenham have gone bust. Reports of customers being unable to collect their cars after servicing with all premises locked and staff not opening doors. New cars with deposits paid being withheld from customers.

So there is now no Honda dealer in Gloucestershire

I stopped using Amethyst in Cheltenham after they returned my car after a service with the oil level not even registering on the dip-stick. Have used Bristol Honda at Cribbs Causeway for the past 4 years.

What a shame, I got good service from the Chippenham branch.

Yes they went about a week ago.

The general feeling of people in the know, is that they were doing deals that were unsustainable and that the people who were in charge had come from the hotel trade and they had no real understanding of the car trade.

Naughty, if true. Most notably the first point...which is IIRC illegal, not to mention likely to cause a lot of inconvenience to many...

...as for the second part, not sure where people stand on that...probably as an unsecured creditor, depending on who has the deposit and who has the contract with who...
