The noise I agree with- I never could have lived with it as a motorway car (which is what the EP3 was).

As for the seats, they were no less comfortable over a long journey than any other seat I've used- specifically those in the Accord ('99 & '03 models) or EP3 (OEM and the differing Recaros).

I worked out, after 23 months and 125,000 miles, that the EP3 averaged more than 2 days a month with Honda for warranty repairs.

It's funny the opinions people get, isn't it?

Our DC2 (stock) has a more compliant ride and more comfortable seats than the wife's MkV Golf GTi (stock, on the optional 18"s). Granted it's quite a bit noisier and lacks the heated-seats and dual-zone climate-control of the Golf, but the ride is actually pretty decent*, certainly when compared to the latest era of hot-hatches and sports cars!

* The NSX has the best ride of all 3 cars, surprisingly!

Sorry to go off topic.... but...

10PS, what is it you do for a living?

A lot of your posts make reference to the mega-mileage you do per annum...

You must spend a hell of a long time behind the wheel!!!

Probably doesn't help that he lives in the middle (ages) of fking no-where - he only has gypos to keep him company and it takes them weeks to get there. wink

I used to work for a small company manufacturing equipment for Opticians (if you go into most Specsavers branches, there will be a system mounted on the wall by the frame displays for helping you choose your glasses- that's what we did).

I covered most of the UK from Cumbria, so 1500 miles a week was normal. I got to know the service staff at the local Honda dealer really, really well!

I put about 130,000 miles on a Vectra, then a '99 Accord (which the company kept until about 220,000 miles), '02 Civic Type-R, 53 Accord Type-S and quite a lot of miles on a diesel Accord.

For my own use I bought a Mk2 CRX VT and then a DC2, both of which were low mileage used examples.

The least reliable by a long way was the EP3, which seemed to enjoy having new and random problems all the time.

Did you keep the CRX?

I sold it after a couple of years using it for trackdays. It wasn't getting the use to justify keeping it on the road, and it was far too mint to turn into a track-slag.

A guy rang me from N. Ireland, agreed to buy it and paid me more than the asking price to stop a guy from Cornwall coming up and buying it the day before he could get a ferry.

I loved that little car and would have one again in an instant of conditions allowed. The price of them shows how popular they still are

If the right CRX came up, I'd be very tempted. The problem is, everything I look at is far from mint.

Did you see Andrew Stott's (Stotty from Lancaster Honda)? I think he was keeping that for his son (who was still nappies) as a first car...although I don't think he'd ever part with it.

I knew it well- a 16-16, but I didn't like the wheels he put on it.

I got lucky when I was looking for mine- an old couple contact Honda Revolutions saying they had a good condition CRX VT to sell, as his wife was too old to deal with non power assisted steering. Sammy from the club immediately thought of me and put us in touch.

It was mint, in white with only 59,000 miles in 13 years. No rust and everything was in brilliant condition. It was just as I was leaving to go abroad on holiday for a week and luckily they agreed to hold it for me until I got back.

Once I'd sorted the brake pads/fluid it was great fun on track, too.

drivethedeal were selling brand new type R GTs early last year for just a fraction over 15 grand. Bear that in mind before parting with your cash.

I'll consider your comment on my wheels as an entirely personal matter . . . however as of yesterday he's still looking like this!

I had the facelifted EP3 and it air con was an option. I would guess the final 'Anniversary' or what ever it was called might have had it as standard?
My premier (final) edition doesn't have air con. Great car though!

Really....I didn't think they did them in metallic bronze. Has it had a re-spray?

I thought the FN2 only came in black, red, silver and white (Mugen version).
