RiccardoG said: Well, after 4 years with my S2000 I've done the "crazy thing" and gone and bought myself a non-OPC warrantied 997!
Obviously its miles different from the S but for me it ticks more boxes more than the S did. Having said that, it was a very long decision in the making to get comfortable with the cost to upgrade and to consider letting go of the S2000. I also considered the Boxster but could never quite justify it v the S2000, so I had to get a 911 I liked (ie: the 997, not a 996).
Obviously the one thing that leaves me mostly concerned is the potential for huge bills on the Porsche (engine notwhitstanding). With the S I maintained the main dealer SH, serviced every year, aligned every year etc and even then the average maintenance spend was £520 a year. Your 997.1 4S looks lovely, one of the nicest looking watercooled 911s imo.

I just bought a black 2001 with 73000miles on from ebay without seeing it Paid by visa and had it delivered 265 MILES FOR £4750 It handled terribly pulling left under acceleration and right decelerating on certain roads noticable only at speed. It had just been serviced, full geometry check and brand new rear tyres 2 weeks prior to me buying. I had it checked, Tracking was paralell front and out at the back so not to factory spec. Still never sorted it. Turns out the tyres were causing it with one being slightly bigger despite being the same size. The previous owner spent £110 a tyre so was ripped off as they were budgets. Nice set of Hankook EVO's have sorted it.(£180) Lesson learned, make sure you have decent tyres on it. Ive just binned the Honda cassette player and fitted a Kenwood and patch lead. Speakers next

A picture of my old car when it was unregistered... It is a picture the dealer sent me... This was back in April 2008. It's now sold to a nice chap in Kent.

I've been floating in the ether for a while - that quite a few of 'them' don't care for here adds a certain charm to the place
